Sharpness Across the Frame...The lens configuration design of the Sony 24mm lens consists of 10 groups and 13 elements, including two XA (eXtreme Aspherical) lens elements and three ED (Extra-low Dispersion) lens elements. The elements are strategically arranged to minimise aberrations, such as axial and lateral chromatic aberration, to maintain optimum sharpness across the frame. |

High-speed Autofocus
Sony have incorporated a powerful DDSSM (Direct Drive SSM) focus drive system that reduces the overall size and weight which contributes towards delivering a faster, smoother, and quieter focusing mechanism. To ensure operation is smooth, Sony have incorporated a variety of accompanying features, including:
Focus Mode Switch – Switch instantly between auto and manual focusing modes to match changing shooting conditions.
Click ON/OFF Switch – Allows the aperture ring click stops to be engaged or disengaged. Beneficial for still photography and controlling the aperture ring for a smoother, silent control during moviemaking.
Linear Response MF – Featured on the focus ring, the Linear Response MF enables a responsive manual focus control. This gives the photographer immediate control over fast manual focusing.
Intuitive HandlingFor better handling and control during operation, Sony have incorporated a variety of intuitive controls. Including a focus hold button that is customisable from the body menu, as well as giving the user access to a secondary function assigned to the focus hold button – such as “Grid Lines” and “White Balance”. The lens also features a focus mode switch so the user can switch instantly between AF and MF, an aperture click switch, and Linear Response MF. The fluorine coated front element repels dirt and fingerprints and makes it easier to wipe if they do, allowing for efficient shooting. |
Durable DesignThe Sony 24mm lens adopts a lightweight and compact design, weighing just 445g, making it the ideal walkabout lens that still delivers a superb optical performance. Even in harsher shooting conditions, the lens will continue to operate at a high standard due to the dust and moisture resistant design. As well as a rubber material featured on the focus ring making it easy to control even in low temperatures, and a lens hood lock button to prevent accidental detachment during transportation. |
