The Vertiv™ Avocent® ACS 8000 Advanced Console Server is purpose-built for secure, scalable remote management of IT assets across distributed data centers, remote sites, and campus environments. This 48-port console system combines high-density port access with robust out-of-band (OOB) and in-band management capabilities, enabling administrators to reach, diagnose, and remediate servers, network devices, and appliances from anywhere in the world. Designed to minimize downtime and streamline operations, the ACS 8000 brings centralized control to complex infrastructures while maintaining strict security and auditability. The non-TAA variant with dual DC power supplies and an analog modem is ideal for organizations that require dependable remote access without a Trade Agreement Act constraint, while still delivering enterprise-grade reliability and performance.

  • High-density 48-port console access: This 48-port console server consolidates management connections for a wide range of IT devices, delivering scalable reach across data centers and branches from a single, centralized platform.
  • Redundant dual DC power supplies: Built with dual power inputs to enhance availability and fault tolerance, helping to keep critical management functions running even in the event of a single power rail issue.
  • Integrated analog modem for out-of-band access: The onboard analog modem provides dial-in capabilities for remote access and remediation when the primary network path is unavailable, ensuring continued control during outages.
  • Secure in-band and out-of-band management: Featuring encrypted sessions, strong authentication, and granular access control, the ACS 8000 enables safe, auditable remote management of IT assets across networks and locations.
  • Non-TAA variant for global deployments: This version is non-TAA compliant, offering flexibility for international procurement where TAA compliance is not a requirement, while maintaining compatibility with Vertiv Avocent management solutions.

how to install 48-Port ACS8000 Console System

To deploy the 48-Port ACS8000 Console System quickly and reliably, follow these practical steps. This guidance is focused on a standard rack-mount environment and emphasizes safe power handling, proper cabling, and initial configuration to enable secure remote management from day one.

Step 1 — Prepare and inspect: Unpack the ACS8000 and verify all components against the packing list. Check for any shipping damage and ensure you have the required cables, rack rails, and mounting hardware. Decide on a central, secure location with stable power, proper ventilation, and accessible network connectivity for the management interface.

Step 2 — Rack installation and mounting: Mount the console server in a standard equipment rack following the manufacturer’s guidelines. Ensure clearance for cable routing and airflow. Use appropriate rack screws and secure the device to prevent movement during operation.

Step 3 — Power connections: Connect both DC power supplies to their respective DC power sources. Verify that both power inputs are receiving power and that any redundant power configuration is recognized by the system. If a battery backup or disconnect switch is provided, install and configure it according to facility policies.

Step 4 — Cable provisioning: Connect console cables from the ACS8000 to the target devices you intend to manage, ensuring correct pinouts and cable type. Route cables neatly to minimize strain and interference. If the system supports a separate management network, connect the management interface to a secured management VLAN or network segment as prescribed by your network architecture.

Step 5 — Initial configuration: Power on the ACS8000 and access the initial setup interface via its console or management port. Create administrative accounts with strong credentials, define RBAC roles, and configure essential security settings (encryption, access controls, and logging). Establish network parameters for out-of-band and in-band access, including remote session protocols (SSH/TLS) and dial-in options for the analog modem.

Step 6 — Activate and test remote access: Enable out-of-band dial-in to verify the analog modem functionality. Test remote access through both in-band and out-of-band paths, ensuring that devices connected to the 48 ports respond as expected. Perform basic device inventory, status polling, and common remediation workflows to prove the system’s readiness.

Step 7 — Integrate with management tools: If you use Vertiv Avocent DSView or compatible central management software, register the ACS8000 in your management console. Configure user accounts, dashboards, alerting, and role-based access to streamline ongoing operations, monitoring, and incident response across sites.

Step 8 — Documentation and governance: Document all configurations, access policies, and change controls. Maintain up-to-date inventories of connected devices and ensure that auditing settings are enabled to support compliance requirements and forensic investigations if needed.

Step 9 — Ongoing maintenance: Periodically review power supply health, firmware updates, and security policies. Schedule routine backups of configuration data and ensure redundant power and network paths remain in good condition to preserve uninterrupted management capabilities.

Functional, Look Great
Color: Brown
These were nice corner shelves that were easy to install, and look great. There are plenty of other options on Amazon that offer more shelves and/or at a lower price, but these ones look nicer than most. Overall they're pretty easy to install. It's not exactly a two-person job, but it is easier if you have help - someone to hold the shelf and a level, and the other to mark the holes. My only other recommendation is to check your L-brackets before you do anything. Some come bent inward, some bent outward. If they're really crooked it will make it hard to wedge the shelf into the corner and may result in uneven measurements/holes, so make sure you straighten them out first.

Great Tray For Storing My Everyday Carries
Size: 8.5" x 5.8" x 1.9", Color: Black
My everyday carry items (wallet, keys, etc.), used to just get thrown around wherever when I'd get home, but this little tray makes a great, defined, space for me to keep those things when I don't need them on me. The soft lining reduces the obnoxious sound of throwing keys on a hard surface, and of course keeps me from scratching up a surface. The build feels quality and I haven't seen any damage to it yet. Also the all black version with gold buckle looks quite good and adds a subtle touch of luxury. Absolute recommend for the price.
