Which is better - the oil or the salve?

I would go with the oil for larger regions where you need broader coverage, and this salve for a smaller area of the body, like the hands. The salve is also nice for traveling because it can't spill.

What Makes This Frankincense Different?

Many frankincense "balms" and "salves" are simply a carrier oil with some frankincense essential oil added in. This frankincense salve is different because it contains boswellic acids - the biologically active compounds in the resin that are NOT contained in the essential oils. 

Essentials oils represent only the smaller volatile compounds of a plant. If you are wanting the therapeutic benefits that specifically come from the boswellic acids unique to the Boswellia species, you can only get those from the resin. Boswellic acid molecules are too large to be captured by distillation.

How the Salve is Made

Organic sesame oil is infused with a premium extract of frankincense rich in boswellic acids (BA), which includes the highly desirable AKBA variety. The oil is transformed into a salve with the addition of a little organic beeswax. 

About the boswellic acid extract... this is a powder is created from frankincense resin using a labor-intensive proprietary process that implements organic ethanol as a solvent. The final powder consistently tests extremely high in boswellic acids - 70 percent. If you want to learn more about how this extract is made, I have a page about that at the link below.

Boswellic Acid Extract & How It's Made

Many people have experienced symptomatic relief from taking a boswellia supplement, but many don't know that you can derive the same benefits through the skin - transdermally. 

This is what allows frankincense oil to perform its magic! 

One study compared the BA levels in the synovial fluid of the knee joints between two groups - one taking an oral BA supplement and the other applying a BA ointment. They found the two groups to be equal! More impressively, the groups experienced comparable benefits from the BA treatment, whether treatment was oral or transdermal. 

Why Sesame Oil?

Sesame oil is used as a base because it has been preferred for centuries in Ayurvedic medicine for its ability to penetrate and deliver nutrients deep into the body's tissues.

You might see a tiny bit of fine sediment in the bottom of the bottle. If so, this is completely normal.
