Overview

Stanford is a small village in the Western Cape's Overberg region, sited along the banks of the Klein River between the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley and the Walker Bay coast. Its well-preserved Victorian and Edwardian streetscape, surrounded by wheat farms, vineyards and fynbos, gives it a distinctive, unhurried character. The village draws visitors seeking an alternative to busier coastal towns, with Hermanus just 20 kilometres away.

Our map includes the old town centre along the southern banks of the Klein River and the newer urban and agricultural developments further to the south. All of the buildings and the road infrastructure are shown.

Map Design and Paper

The map is an original creation by our design studio at Africa Map Art. Data for this map has been compiled from various up-to-date sources including from the OpenStreetMap contributors. The map is available in four styles and on the following two paper options and canvas: a high quality 210gsm heavyweight coated paper with a matte finish, which achieves excellent colour and resolution and is perfect for framing;  a 260gsm photo paper with a smooth satin finish;  and a 350gsm strengthened canvas. All of the options are shipped in a cardboard roll for protection. The canvas is unstretched and unframed.

We welcome personalisation and customisation requests, such as highlighting of specific buildings or features, adjusting the colour scheme, or the addition of text and images.  Please contact us for a quote.

History

Stanford was established in the 1850s on land associated with Cape notable Robert Stanford, growing as a small service village for the surrounding farming community. Its layout follows the Klein River valley, with a simple grid of streets stepping back from the riverbank — a form shaped more by the land than by formal planning. Wool farming, wheat and later vineyards sustained the village, and its compact centre has changed remarkably little since the late nineteenth century. Today, Stanford is recognized as a heritage site and is the third most preserved village in the Western Cape.

The book was packaged well and arrived in perfect condition. It also arrived early which was great. I recommend this book seller. I read Susan M. Johnson’s other book on EFT, “Hold Me Tight” and found it extremely helpful with my therapy clients. I’m excited to dive into this book too!

This would have been great if an editor worked on it first
Format: Hardcover
As much as I admire Dr. Johnson and her work, the writing is not good in this book. The ideas are very useful but the reader must slog through complex, turgid sentences and multiple grammatical errors to get the points. I wish more writers had good editing and didn’t submit such poor writing for publication. Dr. Johnson is not alone in this criticism. I think many writers have been trained to write circuitous sentences and that results in the reader working unnecessarily hard to grasp the meaning of the ideas. That said, I am very impressed by her use of research that supports her writing and the ideas she presents. I hope that future publications are more carefully edited before they are published, with the reader in mind. And if you wonder if I am uneducated, rest assured that I have a doctorate in clinical psychology and 20 years post license experience.

Great!!!
Format: Paperback
This book I feel really gives a great understanding of key topics and points that would potentially be on the exam. Although vague for some folks, potentially, they would be things to know and keep in mind when considering to cost of such an exam.
