When at 97 years old Casals died in Puerto Rico he had made the cello as a solo instrument more popular than anyone else - and he had won worldwide respect and affection as UN ambassador for peace. Pau Casals was the son of a Catalan father and a Puerto-Rican mother. After World War II he went into exile in Puerto Rico. YorickAlexander Abel is the son of a German father and a Cuban mother with Catalan ancestors. It is more than the European-Creole ancestry that links Abel with the legendary Casals, it is also the conviction in the power of the spiritual message, and of course - as with all the cellists - the love for the music of Johann Sebastian Bach whose six suites for cello solo were recognized as the peak of cello literature due to Casals's celebrated performances and recordings. "Hommage à Pau Casals" is a journey between epochs and styles, a journey with many cross connections.

Great purchase!

This book was a gift to my grandmother for mothers day and it came in great quality! Although I have not read the contents of the book, it was not bent when delivered (like previous books Ive purchased) and it is good quality! The paperback texture is not smooth and it has some texture but it still feels good quality. As I flipped through it I noticed the scripture index which I was very happy by!! 10/10 and if you read it leave another review based on the contents of the book!!

Literally life changing

This is one of the best books I have ever read. I have just been through a difficult season of waiting and was not handling it well. I was doubting God in a way I haven't since I was in high school and descending into spiritual chaos. My friend read this book, and I saw it on her Goodreads and asked her about it. I read it this spring and it has fundamentally changed the way I see the world. It has given me an abiding trust in God. I will come back to this frequently in my life. It isn't about a particular kind of waiting (waiting for a spouse, for instance) but about the concept of waiting in general, so it is applicable to all seasons of life. I recommend it to all my friends in person, and even though I don't frequently write reviews, I cannot recommend this book highly enough, so I thought I'd share my thoughts. It also has reflection questions, so it could be great for a book study, as well as just for personal devotions. It has changed my heart and therefore my life and I am so grateful for God sending me this book. It's also a quality product, with nice paper and cover. All around amazing.
