Overview: The Sony FE 14mm F1.8 GM Lens (SEL14F18GM) is an ultra-wide-angle prime lens built for Sony's full-frame E-mount cameras. As part of Sony's prestigious G Master series, it combines a dramatic 114-degree field of view with an exceptionally fast f/1.8 maximum aperture in a remarkably compact and lightweight body. Whether you're shooting sweeping landscapes, Milky Way skies, architecture, interiors, or cinematic video, this lens delivers professional-grade sharpness, beautiful bokeh, and precise autofocus in a package light enough to take anywhere.

Key Features:

  • 14mm Ultra-Wide-Angle Prime Focal Length: The 14mm focal length offers an expansive, dramatic perspective ideal for landscape, astrophotography, architecture, and creative video. On APS-C bodies, it provides a 21mm equivalent field of view.
  • Fast f/1.8 Maximum Aperture: The wide f/1.8 aperture gathers substantial light for low-light and night sky shooting, allowing shorter exposure times and lower ISO settings compared to slower ultra-wide lenses. It also enables beautiful foreground-to-background bokeh — impressive for such a wide focal length.
  • G Master Optical Design: An advanced construction of 14 elements in 11 groups includes two XA (extreme aspherical) elements, one standard aspherical element, one Super ED element, and two ED (extra-low dispersion) elements. This combination delivers outstanding corner-to-corner sharpness wide open, suppresses chromatic aberration and coma, and — crucially — minimises sagittal flare so that point light sources such as stars are rendered cleanly across the frame.
  • 9-Blade Circular Aperture: The rounded 9-blade diaphragm produces smooth, circular bokeh — a hallmark of the G Master series — with natural rendering of out-of-focus highlights and pleasing 18-point sun stars when stopped down.
  • Nano AR Coating II: Applied evenly across element surfaces, Sony's Nano AR Coating II maximises clarity by effectively suppressing internal reflections, flare, and ghosting — even when shooting directly into strong backlight or with the sun within the frame.
  • Dual XD Linear Motor Autofocus: Two XD (extreme dynamic) Linear Motors deliver fast, precise, and near-silent autofocus — ideal for tracking moving subjects and for smooth, continuous focus during video shooting. Linear Response MF provides direct, accurate manual focus control.
  • De-clickable Aperture Ring: A dedicated aperture ring with switchable click stops can be set to smooth, stepless de-clicked operation for video, enabling silent, seamless aperture transitions during recording.
  • Rear Filter Holder: A built-in rear gel filter slot accepts standard cut sheet filters — including ND, colour correction, and soft filters — along with Sony's VF-DCPL1 circular polariser. A filter cutting template is included.
  • Compact and Lightweight Design: Weighing just 460g (16.2 oz) and measuring 83 x 99.8mm, this is one of the most portable ultra-wide f/1.8 lenses available — practical for travel, hiking, and use on gimbals or stabilisers.
  • Customisable Focus Hold Button: The focus hold button can be reassigned to a range of functions from the camera body, including Eye AF, AF On, Aperture Preview, Shot Result Preview, or Bright Monitoring.
  • Dust and Moisture Resistant: A weather-sealed construction, combined with a fluorine coating on both the front and rear elements, provides durability and reliability in challenging outdoor conditions while repelling water, oil, and contaminants.
  • Built-in Petal Lens Hood: An integrated petal-shaped hood blocks stray light to reduce flare and ghosting, and provides some physical protection for the front element.

Bought a "Used like new" watch. Doesn't keep time
Color: Black/Black/Black/Fast-Wrap
I've had this for a few weeks. Since then, it's lost about 30 seconds. I'm not sure if it's this specific unit that has the issue or the mechanism itself. It's a shame because it's a killer looking watch.

Light, retro watch
Color: Brown/Brown/Natural
This is a light, comfortable and retro-stylish watch. A mixture of plastic, canvas, and faux-leather makes a good match for a college professor's tweed jacket with leather shoulders and elbow patches. It looks and feels cheap but it's actually a pretty good watch. Mine has a high contrast face making it easy to read. The hands have lume on them but it only glows for a few minutes. There is an indiglo feature when you press the winder so that's great. The day window is tiny and almost unreadable even with reading classes but other than that it is very functional. You can adjust the time and day independently (so you don't have to wind through 100+ hours to get the right day displayed). The winder setting to select between time and day adjust is very finicky. Fortunately you only need to adjust the day 5 times a year. The weakest part is the build quality. I'm not expecting Rolex, but the case corrodes really badly and the strap is short and the stitching failed so it fell off my wrist in about 6 months. I replaced the strap with a better one but the case corroded so badly I tossed it within a year. Other than looking cheap, poor build quality, and being thicker than I would like, I think this is a good watch.
