Katie Von Schleicher doesn't hold back. Her music, drenched in layers of warmth and fuzz, mines depression, devotion, power, and anxiety without reserve. But if channeling weighty subject matter is a constant in Von Schleicher's music, so too is transforming that material into sonic landscapes that defy expectations. On Von Schleicher's second record, Consummation, she blasts past the lo-fi power ballads of her debut Shitty Hits (2017) with a severe expansion of her sonic palette; it's thirteen shape-shifting songs depict a deeply personal exploration of trauma. The result is both potent and listenable; strange and familiar; intense and entertaining-and, perhaps most of all, teeming with life.Consummation is, in part, inspired by an alternate interpretation of Hitchcock's Vertigo. In 2018, Von Schleicher rewatched the seminal film and was struck by it's largely unanalyzed subtext of abuse. She knew immediately that this hidden narrative, which spoke to her personal experience, would be the basis of her next album. While writing and engineering the record, she found sanctuary in the words of other women: namely, Carmen Maria Machado's Her Body and Other Parties, Rachel Cusk's Outline trilogy, and Rebecca Solnit's A Field Guide to Getting Lost. The latter proved particularly influential: Soon after revisiting Vertigo, Von Schleicher stumbled upon Solnit's lacerating take on the film. Solnit describes the "wandering, stalking, haunting" of romantic pursuit that it depicts as "consummation," while "real communion"-understanding and mutual respect between two lovers-is, to the men in the film, "unimaginable." The consequence is a fundamental failure of communication. At it's core, Consummation evokes the pain of being unable to bridge that vast psychic distance between oneself and another.

Great product
Scent: Aged Bourbon
Very nice. Only thing is that face lotion is kinda a lot. As in a lot of products. Could do with all of it except recovery lotion. I do like though.

Smooth, comfortable, effective and aesthetic

This is a fantastic shaving cream that is the perfect texture for a nice clean shave. I switched from a shaving gel because I didn’t like the texture of a thick cream that seemed to protect the skin but almost too well preventing a smooth razor clean shave but this one by Jack Black is my new favorite. I also appreciate the packaging with the pump dispenser which releases the perfect amount of product for me.
It does have a “cooling” effect that some may not prefer but my skin is comfortable, perfectly shaved (no patches) and ready for anything else I use (SPF 50+ daily)

Never used anything nearly as good.

Amazing stuff; have never used any shaving cream/gel that is this slick or gives a better shave. I wet shave with a Panasonic ARC 6 electric razor and the results are outstanding. An extremely comfortable shave. I don't use a blade but I would expect similar results.

smooooth....

beard lube.
sounds weird. lube. beard lube.
im a shaving cream shaver. or at least i was. i got a sample pack type grooming kit for xmas last year. used the cologne and the lotion in it and it was good stuff. didnt use the 'beard lube' though. thought it was silly or something. just used my plain old shaving cream.
little more info on me: my neck is f'ed up as far as how the hair grows. some grows up, some grows down...sideways..its all over the place. i get ingrown hairs and red bumps on my neck after shaving quite often because of this. it sucks.
so one day i unfortunately ran out of my beloved shaving cream. faced with not shaving, shaving with some hand soap or using the 'lube' i went with the lube. i went with the lube. figured i had nothing to lose.

the beard lube makes a difference. its different to shave with. its not thick like a shaving cream. its almost like theirs nothing there. it doesnt take much either. and its clear. so when your shaving, its almost like theres nothing there.
anyway, i used it that day and afterwards my neck wasnt red. none of the usual bumps. hmmmm....i tried it again the next time i shaved. same results. soon after the sample bottle ran out. oh well..back to the standard shaving cream.
and the return of the red bumps and all that.
a quick trip to amazon and im ordering up more beard lube. couple days later its here and my shavings changed forever. does it cost more than regular shaving cream? yes. can i pick it up at the local grocery store? no. is it worth it? yes. when this bottle runs out, ill buy another. possibly 2 so i wont have to order again so soon.
bottom line is, it makes a difference. if you have sensitive skin and problems like i described above, then this might be worth trying. even if you dont, you should try it. its good stuff.

A bit expensive but very good product.

I like that this goes on clear. No need to remove shave cream or gel at bottom of beard line with my finger do I can see where to shave.
Tapping razor after rinsing to get hair out is easier than with other products. Everything comes out after tapping razor on sink.
Very little irritation. Skin becomes looser with age, but beard stays the same so it's harder to get close shaves. This is these best product so far. A little goes a long way.
