รามเกียรติ์เป็นวรรณคดีสำคัญเรื่องหนึ่งของไทยตั้งแต่สมัยอยุธยา มีเค้าโครงเรื่องมาจากวรรณคดีรามายณะของอินเดีย มีบทสรุปของเนื้อเรื่องที่แสดงให้เห็นว่า “ธรรมะย่อมชนะอธรรม” โดยมีพระรามและหนุมานที่เป็นฝ่ายธรรมะเป็นผู้ชนะ และยักษ์ทศกัณฑ์ที่มีสิบหน้ายี่สิบมือที่เป็นฝ่ายอธรรมเป็นผู้พ่ายแพ้

Ramakien is one of the Thai literature since Ayuttaya era. The story is derived from Ramayana of India. The core of the story teaches us “Good Always Overcomes Evil”. The main characters are Pra Ram the king and Hanuman the monkey who overcame Thotsakan the Giant Demon who has ten faces and twenty arms.
