Engineered for harsh industrial environments, the Tripp Lite by Eaton 8-Port Unmanaged Industrial Ethernet Switch delivers reliable, plug-and-play networking for automation and control systems. This ruggedized switch provides eight auto-negotiating 10/100 Mbps RJ-45 ports, enabling fast, straightforward connections from PLCs, sensors, actuators, and machines to a central LAN. Designed to withstand the rigors of factory floors, remote sites, and rugged installations, it combines sturdy construction with simple, maintenance-free operation. With EtherNet/IP QoS support, critical data such as control commands, safety signals, and time-sensitive telemetry can be prioritized to reduce latency and improve deterministic performance in real-world applications. The compact, DIN rail-friendly form factor makes it easy to integrate into existing control panels, enclosures, or cabinets without sacrificing valuable space or accessibility. And for teams supplying government or institution-level procurement, the TAA-compliant design ensures compatibility with a broad range of purchasing requirements.

  • Rugged, industrial-grade design built to endure shock, vibration, and harsh environmental conditions found in factories, warehouses, and outdoor installations.
  • Eight 10/100 Mbps ports provide reliable, easy Ethernet connectivity for multiple devices and subsystems with auto-negotiation for seamless integration.
  • EtherNet/IP QoS support prioritizes critical traffic, enabling deterministic performance for time-sensitive control data and safety signals across the network.
  • DIN rail mounting simplifies installation in control panels, kiosks, and equipment racks, reducing footprint and simplifying maintenance access.
  • TAA-compliant construction suitable for government and enterprise procurement, delivering compliance and traceability for regulated deployments.

Whether you’re building a new automated line, expanding a current production cell, or deploying remote I/O and sensor networks, this unmanaged switch brings a resilient, low-maintenance solution to the plant floor. Its straightforward, no-fuss operation makes it ideal for scenarios where a full managed switch would introduce unnecessary complexity. You gain a stable, scalable networking backbone that requires minimal configuration while still delivering performance suitable for industrial automation, machine vision systems, and distributed control architectures. The combination of rugged enclosure and broad operating temperature range ensures consistent operation across temperature swings and environments, from chilly, unheated facilities to hot, activity-rich production zones. With 10/100 Mbps ports, latency remains predictable for essential process control data, status updates, and real-time monitoring tasks, helping you maintain smooth workflow and uptime across your operation.

how to install Tripp Lite by Eaton 8-Port Unmanaged Industrial Ethernet Switch

Installing the Tripp Lite 8-Port Unmanaged Industrial Ethernet Switch is designed to be quick, reliable, and non-disruptive to existing networks. Follow these practical steps to ensure a secure, efficient deployment in industrial environments:

1) Plan placement and mounting: Identify a suitable location within your control panel, enclosure, or equipment rack where the switch will stay dry, dust-free, and protected from excessive vibration. Use the included DIN rail mounting hardware to attach the unit securely to the DIN rail, ensuring there is clearance for port access and cable management. A clean, organized installation reduces signal interference and makes future servicing straightforward.

2) Prepare the network wiring: Gather the Cat5e/Cat6 Ethernet cables required to connect devices such as PLCs, sensors, actuators, HMIs, and other controllers. Route cables to minimize bending radii and interference, and label each cable for quick identification during maintenance. Ensure cables meet or exceed the industrial rating for the environment to maintain signal integrity over longer runs.

3) Connect the devices: Plug each device into one of the eight RJ-45 Ethernet ports on the switch. Position critical devices on dedicated ports or dedicated VLAN segments where possible to maximize the benefits of QoS. Although this is an unmanaged switch, you can still influence traffic patterns by logically grouping devices and using physical port assignments to prioritize essential traffic paths.

4) Establish network uplinks: Connect the switch to your broader local area network or control network through the appropriate uplink path. If the switch sits at the edge of the network, connect the uplink to a core switch or gateway that provides access to enterprise systems, data historians, or cloud-enabled monitoring platforms. Ensure that the uplink path is reliable and that cable grounding and shielding practices are followed where needed to minimize electrical noise.

5) power and verification: Apply power using the appropriate industrial power source compatible with your system. Once powered, verify that port LEDs indicate link activity on connected devices. Test data transfer between devices to ensure proper communication, and monitor for any packet loss or unexpected latency. Simple, post-install testing confirms a stable setup and helps identify any wiring or device compatibility issues early on.

In operation, the switch works transparently behind the scenes, enabling reliable Ethernet connectivity without the overhead of a managed switch. This makes it ideally suited for automation environments where simplicity, durability, and consistent performance are paramount. The EIP QoS capability provides a lightweight mechanism to favor time-critical data streams within the network, helping to reduce jitter and maintain tighter control loops. By isolating critical traffic from non-critical data, you can improve the responsiveness of automation tasks, supervisory control, and safety monitoring without requiring advanced network management tools. This blend of simplicity and performance makes the Tripp Lite 8-Port Unmanaged Industrial Ethernet Switch a compelling choice for both new installations and upgrades to existing industrial networks.

A great everyday companion.
Overall this is a great watch for the price. Swiss Made and the right size for a larger dial vs. others in the class. The dial color is more gray than black which was a plus for me as I was looking for a gray dial. I switched out the band for a black field band bought on Hamilton’s website. I am very happy with the results!

The Perfect Everyday Watch
This hands down is the best everyday watch. I have a large wrist so the 42mm works perfectly for me. The all brushed titanium looks great. The subdued look and clear dial just only make it better. I didnt want to believe the Hamilton hype but I have to say that Hamilton makes a great solid watch. If you are looking for the everyday watch that just feels right, is solid, and works, look no further. I am sure the standard version is just as good also. ALSO, the dial is not black black. It is slightly a grayish tone. At first I hated this detail but after looking at it, it just looks so good.

Hamilton titanium is worse than mediocre
Where can I start with how bad this watch is? (1) the movement is a derated movement with a low beat rate. This means the seconds hand visibly clicks almost like a quartz watch. (2) the beautiful dial is rarely seen because there is no anti-reflective coating. Instead, you see overhead lighting when you check your watch. (3) the watch is already oversized, but the excessive lug-to-lug length makes this look like a clown watch. Make sure your wrist is 8" or more for this watch. (4) it's dainty for a field watch. The push-down crown easily pops out, making rain or sweat a real watch killer. It's also gets scratched at the slightest touch. (5) the superluminova on the hands and face is so thin that it is worthless. (6) When I say Seiko and Timex make better automatic watches, I don't mean "better value" or "better for the money." I mean that Seiko and Timex have better movements, better styling, better wearability, better durabity, better visability... all around better. The Hamiltons released with the low-beat H-10 are bringing shame to the one-respected Hamilton brand.

A lot of watch for the money
This rivals my omega “master chronometer” for accuracy. It is within a couple seconds a day. And the titanium case makes it very light and comfortable to wear.
