The HO Sabre brings the high-end performance of the Works 02 Mk.2 model and creates a weapon to suit any confident skier who doesn't want to enter the world of Syndicates but still wants open water capabilites. This works by taking the tried and tested Works shape and creating an all-new construction for the Sabre. Working with the biotech company Checkerspot, the Sabre gets to boast an environmentally sourced and manufactured foam core that is both lighter and more rigid than traditional PU cores, which, combined with the classic combination of a carbon laminate sheet bonded with bio-resin, you get response and snappiness in all the right spots without going too over the top. With a tonne of time put into refining the rockerline, the Sabre is designed to give you maximum efficiency and increased stability while maintaining smooth and fast turn initiations. With flat spots under your tail and front foot for a driving point and stable platform and continuous rockerlines through the nose and under the back foot, the Sabre gives you greater confidence to sit over the nose of the ski through the second wash and into the turn without penalty, while also giving you greater control and angle in your turn. Underneath the ski, a refined high-volume concave that gradually flattens out through the front of the ski is crucial for speed control, maintaining the perfect balance of acceleration and timed deceleration, but now with greater tracking and targeted drive into the wash without the bite and stall at the peak of your turn. Finally, wrapping the base with HO's pioneered carbon speed skin reduces the drag of the ski to increase speed while also helping to shave another 20%  off the weight compared to conventional high-end ski models. If you want a powerful ski to tear up the open water on the river but can perform like a top-end ski in the course, the Sabre offers the perfect balance that will blow your socks off.

The HO Stance boot is designed for skiers chasing comfort, flexibility, and a bit more forgiveness. It features lateral flex zones for smooth side to side movement and easier entry, making it a great option for relaxed, responsive riding. The GAIA PVC-free foam liner gives you a snug yet comfy fit, while the Ultralite Base keeps the weight down without sacrificing strength. Dual lace zones let you tighten the upper and lower sections independently, so you can dial in the fit just how you like it. Finished with a universal hole pattern to suit most ski brand inserts, the Stance Boot is all about easy performance and dependable comfort.

Waterski Features

Rocker

  • 4 Stage Rockerline - Flat spots in the tail and under your front foot, continuous under your back foot and through the nose. This allows you to get drive through the tail and control in your onside turns, as well as the ability to sit over the shovel in the nose of the ski without being taken for a ride, but not feel so controlled that it can't drive through the first half of your turn.
  • Updated Rocker Tip - While still having a higher rocker tip, the updated rocker is flatter from the nose forward for greater stability, so you don't feel like you're going to come out the front while keeping that easy, effective, and aggressive turn initiation.

Flex

  • Flex Rating(1=Soft, 10=Stiff) – 8/10

Core

  • Blended Works Construction
    • Checkerspot Composite Core—Developed in conjunction with the biotech firm Checkerspot, this new foam core reduces weight while increasing rigidity for greater performance. It also has the added bonus of using no petroleum to manufacture.
    • Bio Resin: 35% Natural Glycerin Resin - This is a simple by-product of biodiesel production that allows the ski to rebound out of turns faster, allowing for a lighter feel underfoot.
    • No Plastic Layers - No top and bottom plastic layers, making the works even more environmentally friendly

Laminates

  • Carbon Laminates – A traditional carbon laminate layer that is tried and proven adds a snappy element to your ski, driving response through your cut and turns.

Shape

  • Wide Forebody - increased width under your foot and through to the nose gives the ski overall increased stability and support without sacrificing speed on the downswing and turn initiation.
  • Updated Bevel Package - Rounder, larger bevel that draws out in the tail allows the ski to roll from edge to edge with a smoother swing, maintaining speed and hold throughout.

Concave

  • Updated Higher Volume Concave - Maintaining an increased depth volume through the ski creates more lift and support but bleeds out forward of the front foot. This translates to greater push on the outer bevels of the ski and an easier ability to pivot into your edges and keep speed but with better tracking throughout and less bite and stall at the finish of the turn.

Other Features

  • Carbon Fiber Speed Skin – A textured base that reduces drag, naturally increasing speed while reducing ski weight by 20%.
  • Syndicate Adjustable Fin Block

  • Ski Type: Tournament

Fresh, exciting, energizing insights on Romans
I was delightfully surprised by the fresh insights of deep significance that Gaventa uncovers in the book of Romans, of all things--that book about which so, so much has already been written. She helps the reader approach the letter's themes as if one were reading it for the first time with 1st-century lenses, and in the process expands and reorients the reader's understanding of salvation, and the question of why Paul is even writing in the first place. The 21st-century repercussions of what Gaventa presents here would take another volume, but she does at points connect some of these dots herself. One notable reason why Gaventa's reading seems so fresh is that while it touches on them very briefly, but doesn't dwell on so many of the recurrent topics in recent discussions on Paul, such as "faith/fulness of Christ" or "works of the law" or "righteousness/justice of God." She simply helps focus attention on what to keep in mind when reading Romans in order to understand what is happening in and through its complex arguments. And I couldn't put it down until I finished. Although I would otherwise say we need another Romans commentary like we need rocks in our shoes, it offers much promise that Gaventa's big commentary which she is producing might very well revolutionize our understanding of aspects of Romans, and perhaps even Paul in general. At the very least, if it expands on what she has already given us in this slim volume, it will absolutely reenergize our engagement with this part of the New Testament.

When in Romans, stay a while…
            Format: Kindle
Too often what we have read is enough. Gave at challenges us to see new life in Romans. Worth reading.

            Not Your Typical Biblical Commentary
            Format: Kindle
This is more like a sermon than a commentary as most people would expect commentaries to be. It examines the Book of Romans thematically, as the themes run throughout the book, illustrating the themes with popular culture and contextualized in contemporary church struggles. If you are expecting the chapter by chapter and verse by verse exegesis, you will not find it here. What you will find is helpful lens with which to understand the epistle.

Confusion can be a good thing.
            Format: Kindle
Finally a scholarship who admits to being unable to fully understand Paul's reasoning. For years I've read portions that seem to be in conflict and indeed they are. A great survey of Romans.

Very Good - But Conclusion Derails
            Format: Paperback
Gaventa wrote an intriguing introduction to the book of Romans. She begins by setting up what we can know about the setting, and likewise critiques some overreach in some other treatments. The chapters which traces significant themes of sin/salvation; righteousness; worship; community; and the Jewish problem throughout the book. The threads she knits together move past the simplistic, and are convincing. Where she loses me is in the conclusion. Her argument that "all" is necessarily universal as it stretches to salvation seems to ignore much of what Paul himself wrote in Romans. Yes, sin is universal. Salvation is universally available. But universal availability doesn't suggest universal application.
