Why is Spanish cedar the benchmark wood for humidors?
Spanish cedar (Cedrela odorata) has been the traditional wood for all premium humidors since the 19th century. Its hygroscopic properties allow it to slowly absorb and release moisture, which buffers against sudden changes in ambient humidity and maintains a stable microclimate around your cigars — an essential condition for preserving their aromatic oils over time.
Beyond regulation, its natural terpenes diffuse into the confined air of the humidor and gradually enrich the tobacco's aromas with a subtle woody and spicy note. Cedar also possesses a valuable defensive property: it repels the tobacco beetle (Lasioderma serricorne), a small devastating beetle capable of destroying an entire collection. A cedar-lined humidor offers incomparably superior preservation to an MDF or plastic humidor.

Preparing the Wood Magnet before first use (seasoning)
Distilled water only. Never refill the humidifier with tap water: limescale clogs the humidification system and can leave deposits on the tobacco leaves. Check the hygrometer every two weeks and refill as soon as the level drops below 65%.
