Narcan is a medication used to reverse the effects of an opioid overdose. It works by binding to the opioid receptors in the brain, blocking the effects of the opioid. This quickly reverses the overdose and allows the person to breathe again. Narcan® (naloxone hydrochloride HCI) is an opioid antagonist medication used for known or suspected opioid overdose reversal treatment with signs of breathing problems and severe sleepiness or not being able to respond. Narcan 4 mg Nasal Spray is manufactured by Emergent Devices Inc (formally Adapt Pharma). Each factory box of Narcan® contains 2 individually packed 4 mg prefilled Ready-to-use Narcan® doses. if one (4mg) dose is not enough, you have the second (4mg) dose to administer in the nose. NARCAN® Nasal Spray is to be given right away and does not take the place of emergency.
