The AudioPressBox APB-D216 R-D is a robust and versatile 19" rack-mountable, active press box meticulously engineered for distributing two audio sources to a multitude of recipients with exceptional clarity and reliability. Designed for the demands of press conferences, media events, and broadcast applications, this unit seamlessly integrates into both analog and modern Dante audio networks, offering flexible powering options with both internal power supply and Power over Ethernet (PoE) support.
Accepts two balanced line-level audio signals via professional XLR connectors. This allows direct connection to mixing consoles, playback devices, or other audio sources.
Offers seamless integration into Dante audio-over-IP networks via an Ethernet port. This enables reception of high-quality digital audio streams directly from other Dante-enabled devices. The input selection between analog line and Dante is easily switchable, providing operational flexibility.
The front panel features sixteen independent, balanced XLR outputs. Each of these outputs can be individually switched between line level and microphone level. This crucial feature ensures compatibility with a wide array of recording devices, from professional camcorders and audio recorders expecting line-level signals to smaller devices that require mic-level inputs.
A dedicated buffered output on the rear panel allows for easy expansion of the output capacity using compatible AudioPressBox expander units. This scalability ensures that the APB-D116 R-D can adapt to events with a larger number of media attendees.
The inclusion of Dante connectivity allows the APB-D116 R-D to become a node on a Dante network. This provides numerous benefits, including simplified cabling (audio and control over standard Ethernet), high-fidelity digital audio transmission, and seamless interoperability with other Dante-enabled audio equipment.
When using the Dante input, the internal high-quality DAC ensures pristine conversion of the digital audio stream to analog signals for the outputs, maintaining the integrity and clarity of the original audio.
Each of the sixteen front-panel outputs is equipped with transformer isolation. This critical design element provides galvanic isolation, effectively preventing ground loops, reducing noise, and ensuring clean, interference-free audio signals for every connected recording device. This is paramount for professional audio recording in potentially electrically noisy environments.
The APB-D116 R-D features an integrated internal power supply and connects to a standard AC mains power outlet via an IEC C14 connector on the rear panel for reliable operation.
The unit also supports Power over Ethernet (IEEE 802.3af). This allows it to be powered directly through the Ethernet cable from a PoE-enabled network switch or injector, simplifying cabling and installation in many scenarios.
The rear-panel buffered output is specifically designed to interface with separately available AudioPressBox expander units. This allows users to significantly increase the number of available outputs as needed, providing a scalable solution for larger events. For example, connecting an AudioPressBox expander can add up to 24 additional outputs per channel, greatly increasing the distribution capacity.
The standard 19" rackmountable form factor ensures easy integration into professional audio racks and flight cases, providing a secure and organized setup.
