Compro Oro; a psychedelic underground road trip to Africa, the Middle East and the Americas via Belgium. On the band's Suburban Exotica, the spirit of Cal Tjader, Mulatu Astatke, or Marc Ribot is never far away. One of the leading bands in the ever-expanding new wave of Belgian jazz, Compro Oro's wayward and psychedelic approach to a broad range of sounds has gained them a devoted fan base since the band's formation in 2014. Produced by Ghent-based multi-instrumentalist Dijf Sanders, Suburban Exotica digs deep into several ethnic music traditions, leaving the listener enthralled in dark grooves and rabid psychedelica. From the danceable beats and colorful sounds of "Miami New Wave", the exotic rhythms and textures of "10 Dollar Jeans Jacket", and the curious vibraphone infusions and wild guitar riffs of "Rastapopoulos", to the heady, bass-laden mover and shaker "Lalibela", and traditional Latin and Cuban rhythms of "Dark Crystal", Compro Oro offer wild, profound, and uncanny flavors that explore the best of Afro-Cuban music and jazz-tinged psychedelia. Suburban Exotica features drummer, keyboardist, and percussionist Joachim Cooder, son of guitar legend Ry Cooder who played on both the landmark Buena Vista Social Club albums and the Manuel Galban spin-off, Mambo Sinuendo. He adds percussion and his effects-laden electric mbira to three tracks on the album: "Miami New Wave", "Rastapopoulos", and "Dark Crystal". "I had a great time playing on this record. Compro Oro blends together so many interesting rhythms and styles that I never knew what was coming next. I like to work that way." On Suburban Exotica, Compro Oro's Wim Segers adds, "Thanks to Bart (Vervaeck) and saxophonist Nathan Daems (Black Flower), I've discovered Arab and Turkish music. I've learned to embrace my own neighborhood. When you live in this part of Ghent, Eastern rhythms are the beat of the street." Vervaeck chips in, "We aren't Cuban; we aren't Morocccan -we know that. We just sail from one coast to another. Finding our own place." CD version comes in a digipack.

Works well out of the box, and better with a tweak.
Color: Black, Color: Black
This is a solid, well-made WDT tool that does exactly what it’s supposed to do — and gives you room to fine-tune it to your preference.
The build quality feels good in the hand, and it works well right out of the box. A big plus is that it comes with extra needles, which makes it easy to change out bend needles or customize. I found that removing some of the needles actually improved usability for me. With all nine installed, it tended to push grounds around too aggressively.
I’m currently running just 3 needles, and that setup works much better for gently breaking up clumps and distributing grounds without pushing or spilling coffee over the basket. Once dialed in, it’s been very effective and consistent.
Overall, this is a great tool from TIVERAIN. If you like dialing in your workflow and want control over how aggressive your WDT is, this one is a great option.

Works like it should, easier to use if you keep the dosing funnel on the basket
Color: Black, Color: Black
With a weighted top and storage base, this is sturdy metal with what appear to be standard acupuncture needles. It comes with a set of spare needles in a plastic tube.
I find it much easier to use if I keep my dosing funnel on the basket, followed by a quick clearing of the funnel using a weighted espresso distribution tool with the maximum extension before popping off the funnel for my final tamp. See photo.

Simple tool that makes a difference
Color: Black
This tool really improved my espresso. It’s easy to use and helps distribute the coffee evenly, which makes the shots come out better. It feels solid and well made. Small but very useful.

It's not bad, but one minor issue FOR ME
Color: Black
There is nothing generally not to dislike about this WDT. Priced right. Good quality materials. But there are two issues that made me choose a different one, even before using this one:
The entire top and bottom are straight cylindrical pieces. Ergonomically I would have to use more, larger muscle movement from my wrist to stir the beans. Not a big deal for some, but with other similar choices at the same price, I thought I would be better off with a different model. The second issue is that then the needles are placed back in the tall "recepticle", the top piece merely sits on top and isn't secured. For some that might be good because the top can be lifted out without any opposing force. OTOH, if it tips over it might expose the needles or need two hands to get it back together. If I didn't have other choices, I'd keep this one. I knew, without even using it that it wasn't for me... but it might be for someone else. Again, the materials are quite good and you can tell by the heft of the item.
I elected to go with a similar concept, but a more contoured design with a knurled top and brushes on the inside of the recepticle to hold the needles and top in place, but also easy to extract for use. My choice over the Tiverain WDT was personal and has nothing to do with the quality of the product.

High quality and looks great
Color: Black
Works well, definitely deep enough. I like the stand- ease of lifting it off its base and then returning it without needing a second hand. Has a modern sleek look and it’s heavy in a good way. Feels like quality build.
