A Survey of work 1982 - 2020 by Wayne 'Iggy' EagerA review by Chips Mackinolty.Wayne Å“Iggyù Eager€long time central Australian artist€started his career more than a decade before the absurdist film, and has a hell of a lot more to say through his visual art. For the first time we can see his work over the 30 years he has worked as an artist since his arrival here in 1990 in the newly released retrospective of his work here, Wayne Eager. Well get to see the work in the flesh in March next year when it gets to Araluen, but this book gives us a fabulous sneak preview of the coming exhibition.Iggys work can broadly, but not exclusively, be described as abstract but theres more to it than this. There is always a fierce sense of Å“placeù in his work. For example, his early works in the Kakadu region€ones Id not seen before€are instantly sensed as being entwined in the dry tropical, in stark contrast to his works that are deeply embedded in our desert environment here. At times lyrical, at times harsh, they are always about place. The accompanying essays in the book based on the exhibition, Bitumen and Dirt€Wayne Eager, 30 years in the Territory€give important insights into the work (as opposed to the Å“its all about meù writings of too many art critics). They include words from John Kean, well known here from his days at Papunya Tula; curator and writer Kirsty Grant; and a great overview from leading art historian, Sasha Grishin. This is wrapped up by the exhibitions curator, Kellie Joswig.Shipping Notes

Bubbly vs. Hard home life
Format: Paperback, Format: Paperback
Love the color and art. The story is a tough subject, but one alot of kids/ young adults deal with.
Trigger warnings of child hood trauma and alcoholic family member

It's pretty nice
Format: Paperback
I don't usually read saphic stories to my preference of mlm ones but this one wasn't bad. Ended on sort of a cliff hanger I suppose given it's only volume 1. The plot revolves around the lead and her mother and sets the tone for her daily life while slowly building her relationship with the green haired one until finishing the book off with them becoming friends and confiding in eachother.

Great book, fast read, beautiful artwork
Format: Kindle
My middle school daughter and I both loved this book. There are some very heavy moments with reference to parental substance abuse, but also many beautiful, sweet moments. Love the artwork.

Beautiful story and so worth reading for anyone
It is so wonderful to see a gay love story be handled as wholesomely and tenderly as this novel. This book is pure joy. This would have been a game-changer for me 10 years ago, I am elated that teens and adults today can grow up with something like this.
A lot of queer novels tend to talk about dark topics: HIV, homophobic parents, drugs, ostracization etc. It's probably because the people writing and producing the content were young during an era when it was tougher to be queer than now.
Heartstopper does not shy away from the tough issues but always the main theme is a loving relationship! A tender and beautiful romance between two boys. I would have loved this during my high school days.
Get the books! they are a quick read filled with beautiful comic like drawings and then see the show on Netflix!
