How to install HPE Foundation Care with Comprehensive Defective Material Retention

HPE Foundation Care is a service plan rather than a software or hardware installation. Activation and setup steps ensure your coverage is properly registered, eligible devices are identified, and support channels are ready. Below are practical steps to initiate and optimize this extended warranty coverage:

  1. Confirm eligibility: Verify that the hardware and eligible software components are compatible with HPE Foundation Care and that the Defective Material Retention option is available for your specific devices. Gather model numbers, serials, and location details for all covered equipment.
  2. Collect product identifiers: Compile the required SKUs, UPCs, and asset tags associated with the covered hardware (e.g., server blades, storage controllers, network appliances) to ensure accurate registration and service mapping.
  3. Submit service registration: Work with your HPE account representative or authorized partner to submit the Foundation Care registration, attaching all relevant device information and confirming the desired duration (4 years) and coverage scope (hardware plus eligible software).
  4. Define service details: Identify primary sites, preferred contact channels, and escalation contacts. Establish a diagnostic workflow that aligns with your IT operations—include remote access permissions where required for proactive monitoring and remote diagnosis.
  5. Document software scope: If you have eligible third-party software, document the products and versions that will participate in Collaborative Call Management and Basic Software Support, so support teams can coordinate effectively during incidents.
  6. Plan for updates and renewals: Set reminders for renewal windows and any potential changes in hardware inventory or software licensing that could affect coverage. Ensure your procurement team tracks warranty expiration dates to avoid coverage gaps.
  7. On-site readiness: In case of on-site visits, confirm physical accessibility, power availability, and any safety or access considerations at the deployment site to streamline technician arrival and service delivery.

Frequently asked questions

Q: What exactly does Defective Material Retention (DMR) cover within this HPE Foundation Care plan?

A: DMR is a coverage component that supports the retention and replacement of defective materials when specified components fail, helping to simplify hardware lifecycle management and expedite replacements as needed under the extended warranty term.

Q: How does the 4-hour response time work for parts and labor?

A: In the event of a supported hardware issue, HPE aims to diagnose remotely and, if on-site service is necessary, deploy required parts and technicians within four hours of the incident being reported through the standard support channels, subject to regional service availability and eligibility.

Q: Does this warranty include software support?

A: Yes. For software components that are eligible, the plan offers Basic Software Support, access to software updates and patches, and Collaborative Call Management for selected non-HPE software, to help resolve interoperability and compatibility issues efficiently.

Q: Is this plan compatible with long-term IT refresh cycles?

A: Absolutely. The 4-year service duration is designed to align with multi-year refresh strategies, providing predictable renewal timelines and continuous coverage as your infrastructure evolves.

Q: What is the difference between standard warranty and this Foundation Care plan?

A: Standard warranties typically cover a limited period with basic support, whereas Foundation Care offers extended years of coverage, remote diagnostics, on-site repairs, 4-hour response times, and additional software support options, including DMR for eligible hardware and collaborative management for software.

Q: How do I activate or renew this plan?

A: Activation and renewal are handled through your HPE account representative or an authorized partner. Provide the device details, confirm the 4-year term, and specify the covered hardware and software components. You will receive confirmation of coverage and instructions for accessing support resources.

Q: If a device is replaced under DMR, does the replacement carry the same warranty?

A: Replacement devices typically inherit the remaining coverage terms of the plan as applicable and are subject to the terms and conditions of the Foundation Care agreement. Your HPE representative can confirm the exact coverage alignment for each replacement.

Q: What regions or locations are supported?

A: Coverage is offered through HPE and authorized partners in regions where Foundation Care is available. Specific regional availability, response capabilities, and service hours vary by location and contract, so it is best to verify with your account team during registration.

TDI Seems To Like This Stuff. A Must For US D2 Fuel.
Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1)
After purchasing our 2012 VW TDI diesel at 140K miles I started researching best practices to keep these little engines happy. What I read was that the US has some of the crappiest quality D2 diesel on the world stage. Even Canada's diesel is higher cetane and lubricity rated than the States not to even mention Europe which has WAY higher standards than us. The weak point of these TDI engines seems to be the high pressure fuel pump (HPFP) that is crank driven to enormous pressure for the injectors to to their thing. If these HPFP parts fail on common rail engines they can literally grenade and throw shards of metal everywhere within the downstream fuel system ensuring a VERY expensive repair if not destroying the engine altogether. The lubricating property of the fuel plays an important part in keeping these pumps working properly. There even seems to be some data supporting Canadian operated TDIs have fewer failure rates of the HPFP than stateside fueled vehicles although nothing had been officially published to my knowledge. Sulpher in the diesel had beneficial lubricating properties but was bad for the environment and subsequently removed from D2 by the EPA much like leaded gasoline of yesteryear. So the second tank I ran in my TDI was Hot Shot's EDT. I can't comment on the comparative difference as I ran this from almost day one. What I like is the claimed increased lubricity and cetane boost that is supposed to bring our crappy D2 up to reasonable levels the rest of the world enjoys. Fuel economy seems fine but playing with a low spun turbo and the subsequent torque is sometimes too irresistible to give fuel economy a fair chance. Besides, I need to blow out all that accumulated carbon :) I like the fact that the Hotshot's EDT seems more concentrated and affordable than the competition. 1oz for a tank is almost a performance treatment for my TDI. It's a negligible cost for a fill up and I hope they keep it that way. My dislike might be the one thing other people love about this product and that's the bottle. The bottle is meant to be squeezed to get the measured amount in the top fill area so measuring is easier. My concern is the filler neck is not long enough to cram into the filler to avoid spilling without a funnel and diesel doesn't do many favors to paint. My workaround was to save the empty bottles from other gasoline treatments and use a syringe to fill 1oz amounts of EDT and place in the trunk of the car in double plastic bags. Seems to work fine although the kitchen was probably not the best place to do this since it doesn't smell like flowers. Next purchase will likely be the bulk bottle. It's kind of a shame we actually need this kind of protection now since the US fuel standards are almost non-existent. Even B1 blended bio diesel would be a huge improvement in lubricity but not available where I live. Thanks Hotshot's...Good stuff!

Recommended by John. So far great additive for the CP4
Size: 16 Fl Oz (Pack of 2)
I have a ‘22 6.7 Powerstroke w/27k and pull heavy trailers in FLA. I’m worried about the (disco party). John I believe from the Ford Dealer in Hereford, Tx recommended this. I run 2 oz per fill and will see what happens. I’ve got Five fill ups on it now and seems to help responsiveness. Proof will be in the pudding. So far I’m pleased

Quieter and more mpg in TDI
Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1)
Didn't really believe the hype. Did a little research and watched Project Farm and decided to try. Im not a snake oil guy....but I will say my 2013 common rail TDI is quieter and I get a tad more fuel mileage. Does it pay for itself? Well, it does get better mpg, but I feel the reduction in noise most likely relates to less wear and tear and thats good enough for me. Im only using 1oz per fill up (about 14 gallons) so it lasts a very long time. I get 40mpg and im not light footed.
