'The Devil You Know' was always one of my favourites, and a decent hit for them off their third album Perverse, but they had bigger hits. Perverse is rightfully renown for being the first album to be entirely recorded on computer - on floppy discs, for godsakes! The Devil in the song is actually time and history and existence, and songwriter and frontman Mike Edwards is encouraging us all to embrace the unknown - the devil we don't know - but there are too many juicy literal retro vintage pulp paperback covers featuring demons, devils, and Satan to get all metaphoric . . . I love this cover, and the sleazy suggestion that 'knowing' in the title is the biblical kind.
So, if you're shopping for something ultra-cool for the 90s alt rock music fan in your life (mayhap that's you!) then you finally got to the right place. Long end of the tail! I promise you won't find anything down here as cool or cooler than this.
