In 1977 punk gave American kids permission to explore music. Some had grown up in L.A., listening to the Sunset Strip bands in heavy rotation, others worked in record stores with old heads who taught them the secret history of the past, or educated themselves by digging through the vinyl library at their college radio stations. Thrift shops were full of paisley rags and fringed jackets, and young bands started dressing like it was 1966, dreaming of rewriting the history of rock, finding inspiration from songs that didn’t get played on the radio and discovering the forgotten weirdness of that decade.

‘This Can’t Be Today’ captures a snapshot of America’s second wave of psychedelia, a coast to coast phenomenon that saw bands as diverse as R.EM., The Dream Syndicate, Green On Red, Flaming Lips and Meat Puppets revisit a sound and aesthetic all but blown away by the pomp of 1970s heavy rock, AOR and disco. Knowingly backwards looking and infused with a pop sensibility, many of these bands became household names and legends in their own lifetime, whilst others produced one-off, scene defining classics or became a footnote in a later band’s origin story. Inspired by the seminal ‘Nuggets’ and ‘Pebbles’ compilations, often with one eye on “swinging London” and working to tight budgets with college radio listeners in mind, this was the polar opposite of Reaganomics, shiny movies and day-glo hair metal. Take a trip to an America the rest of the world rarely got to see.

Resplendent in artwork by the inimitable Cally, and compiled by American A&R, production, promotion and artist management veteran James Barber, this is both a time capsule for those who were there and an invaluable entry point for those with an interest in America’s response to punk rock and the post-punk scene.

Soft, lightweight, warm and long blanket
Color: 04 - Cream, Size: Throw XL (50" X 70")
Very nice blanket. It's soft and long enough to cover you when laying on the sofa and warm. It also washes and dries well on warm water normal dry. I highly recommend this blanket

Bought in multiple colors! Fantastic material
Size: X-Large, Color: Light Green, Size: X-Large, Color: Light Green
I ordered this button-up for an upcoming beach vacation, and I’m honestly so impressed with the quality and feel of it. Right out of the package, the material felt soft, breathable, and exactly what you want when you know you’ll be spending long hours in the sun and heat. It’s incredibly lightweight without feeling cheap or flimsy, which was one of my biggest concerns when ordering. What I really love is how well it helps keep you cool. The fabric allows for great airflow, so you don’t feel like you’re overheating or sweating through it like you might with heavier shirts. Even just trying it on, I could tell it’s going to be perfect for hot, humid weather. The fit is also spot-on—not too tight, not too baggy—giving it a clean, relaxed look that works great for both casual outings and slightly nicer dinners by the beach. Overall, this shirt checks all the boxes: comfortable, breathable, stylish, and ideal for vacation wear. Already grabbing a few more colors

Slim but comfortable sizing looks upscale, wrinkle free from the dryer
Size: Medium, Color: Denim Blue
This is a very nice upscale looking shirt. It has great styling that is not over-sized. My husband normally wears a medium or large depending on the cut/style. He got a medium in this size and it is a perfect, comfortable fit. It arrived with some creases in the material from being folded in the packaging but it came out beautifully from the dryer. I'm happy he has a casual but nice shirt to wear when he takes me out to dinner!

Nice and comfy, light duty and feel great.
Size: X-Large, Color: Light Green
What they may lack in "durability" i.e. very light and thin = not going to last all that long, they make up for in fit [yes even for wide shoulders], comfort and style. If you want them to last, suggest a gentle cycle and just take ot easy on them. They are light, thin, and airy. Nice summer shirt.

A true vacation find!
Size: Medium, Color: Light Green
Really nice choice. Got it for my husband and he really liked the style. I loved how it fit on him and the lightness of the fabric. Great for hot, sunny weathered days, or warm nights. A true vacation find. Both comfy and stylish. He would have preferred it be 100% cotton, but I think he didn't really mind after steaming it. He commented on the color too. A beautiful sage green!
