Built at a cost of $9.5 million, the Stadium was the largest indoor arena in the world at the time of its construction, with a capacity of 16,000 for hockey and 17,000 for basketball. The building featured a 3,663-pipe Barton organ with the world’s largest console (six keyboards). It was also the last NHL venue to have an analog game clock (a Bulova, from 1943 to 1975).
