Highly effective active filter carbon - especially after medication treatment

EHEIM AKTIV is acid-washed and activated to ensure efficient water absorption (active surface 1200 m²/g). This activated carbon effectively binds chemical pollutants such as pesticides, medication residues, and other harmful substances rapidly while retaining them in significant amounts. As a result, the water in your aquarium becomes crystal clear. It's especially crucial to use this product after administering medication to your aquarium's inhabitants.

EHEIM AKTIV should only be utilized for a limited duration (approximately 4 weeks) before being removed or replaced.

In the layered structure of the filter, EHEIM AKTIV is positioned directly after the mechanical filter media (e.g., EHEIM MECH or MECHpro) and the biological filter media (e.g., SUBSTRATpro) in the provided net bag.

Adsorptive filter media

Adsorbing refers to the accumulation of substances (as opposed to absorbing). Adsorptive filter media are materials designed to eliminate harmful substances from the water by accumulating or binding them. This encompasses chlorine from tap water, medication residues, traces of cleaning agents, pesticides, dyes, and more.

Tip: It’s advisable to use adsorptive filter media for only a few weeks. Since the harmful substances merely adhere to the surface, they can eventually dissolve back into the water. Therefore, regular replacement is essential. Adsorptive filtering is typically only required during the initial phase of the aquarium setup or following the use of medication.
