I designed these illustrations using Procreate on an iPad and then used a somewhat complex process and a vinyl cutting machine to adapt the designs to ceramic. Peonies are my favourite flower and I look forward to the showy blooms all year! I designed these illustrations using Procreate on an iPad and then used a somewhat complex process and a vinyl cutting machine to adapt the designs to ceramic. I threw the honey jar and matching lid on the wheel using speckled stoneware clay, let it dry, and then bisque fired both pieces. I added my two dimensional design to this curvy pot with a few challenges but I adapted the design and painted three coats of underglaze in multiple stages, carefully adding and refining the black lines after I added the colour. I bisque fired the honey jar again to permanently apply the underglaze and then glaze fired the pot with a glossy clear glaze. This honey jar required hours and hours of work and I hope you love the final result as much as I do.
