Upon the release of the Ford 6.7L Powerstroke, it quickly became evident that the factory turbo was flawed. Countless failures forced Garrett, the original turbo manufacturer, to make a major redesign to increase the reliability of these turbos. However, even with the redesign the other issue still plagued these trucks....insufficient airflow. If you're ready for a BIG improvement in reliability, airflow, and overall power potential, check out this complete turbo kit from HS Motorsports.
This kit is designed to replace the factory turbocharger, exhaust manifolds, intake piping, and charged air piping with HS Motorsports quality parts.

Turbocharger
HS Motorsports has performed extensive testing with BorgWarner's new SX-E line of turbochargers and they have proven to be a great match for the 6.7L Power Stroke engine. All SX-E turbo options include the .91 A/R divided (twin scroll) turbine housing and HSM's turbocharger pedestal that was redesigned to take full advantage of the twin-scroll design. The 73mm turbine wheel is larger than they are used to using, but the twin scroll design helps to retain the response and drive-ability in the lower RPM range. The benefits of the 73mm turbine wheel include lower drive pressure, lower EGTs, and more power! During testing, HSM experienced an average of a 200 degree drop in peak exhaust gas temperatures when compared to the factory turbocharger setup. Durability and reliability also play a big part in our parts selection and BorgWarner has stepped up their game with the 360-degree thrust bearing assembly that is standard in all SX-E units.

You may be aware that BorgWarner's new SX-E compressor housings are not currently offered with a 90-degree outlet option. No problem! As a solution, HSM CNC machines each SX-E compressor housing in-house to take advantage of the v-band outlet and supply a cast aluminum 90-degree elbow with v-band clamp. They felt that an aluminum elbow was necessary for this application since air temperatures are going to be the hottest right at the compressor discharge and a silicone boot would not be as reliable.

Compressor Wheel Size Options:
  • 63mm Forged-Milled Compressor Wheel (575-625 WHP)
  • 64mm Forged-Milled Compressor Wheel (600-650 WHP)
  • 66mm Forged-Milled Compressor Wheel (650-700 WHP)
  • 69mm Forged-Milled Compressor Wheel (700-750 WHP)
  • 72mm Forged-Milled Compressor Wheel (750+ WHP)
(All of the above options include the 73mm turbine wheel and .91 A/R divided turbine housing.)

Piping
All HSM piping is fabricated out of high quality steel and tig welded with amazing precision. HSM takes pride in knowing that the fit and finish of every pipe will be at OEM quality or better. Piping is available in raw form (to be coated by you in the color/style of your choice), or you can pick to have it coated in a classy textured black finish. Bungs are welded into place in convenient locations for connecting your water injection, nitrous, or any other 1/8" NPT accessory. Plugs are included if you choose to not use any of the supplied bungs. A two piece downpipe is included and will mate to most aftermarket exhaust systems using a ball flange just like the OEM downpipe. All piping is crafted here in the USA.

Cast Parts
You will be receiving 3 custom cast pieces with your HSM turbo kit (2 exhaust manifolds and 1 turbo pedestal). These parts were engineered and produced here in the USA using the best possible materials to ensure they will withstand the most extreme temperatures and pressures. Provisions in the exhaust manifolds for exhaust gas temperature sensors (factory sensor or 1/8" npt) are provided, as well as a location to install the OEM exhaust back pressure sensor. A wastegate port is also machined into the driver's side manifold and a block-off plate is included should you choose not to use this feature.

Wastegate Provision
The HSM driver's side exhaust manifold is machined to accept a wastegate. HSM recommends cutting a hole into the downpipe and building a pipe to connect the wastegate outlet directly into the downpipe. You can also let the wastegate dump to atmosphere if you don't have any means of welding/fabricating.

Air Intake
No air filter provision is included in this kit. This product is engineered to fit with the OEM or SB air intake box. If you are running something other than that, adjustments may be necessary to ensure correct fitment. Piping, rubber couplings, and hose clamps are included to route the OEM or SB intake to the HSM turbocharger. The 4" air intake piping is designed to clear a dual high pressure fuel system, should you have one installed on your vehicle.

Conclusion
One look at these components and you'll understand why they are the best on the market. From the custom engineered castings to the full color detailed instruction manual, there was no expense spared during the development of this product. All parts are included with the kit to make installation as simple as possible.

Whether you're looking for a performance gain or just wanting something to replace the OEM unit, this kit is a great solution for you. It will make your 6.7L Power Stroke run like it is supposed to!

Use activated carbon to clean the air naturally!
This is a serious air filter with activated carbon inside of it and I'm here for it. I use little activated carbon bags in my car already as an air freshener because I hate those fake chemical scents from the little trees or from the car wash. The chemicals in those fake scents give me migraines. I absolutely love the idea of putting the active carbon in the cabin air filter itself to clean the air. This fits prefecture in my 2017 toyota prius v. It was just a easy to install as any purge cabin air filter. The hardest part is opening all the parts of the glove box to get the old one out. This filter seems sturdier than my last one and it's a good value for the money.

Perfect fit for 2016 Corolla!
Fit's my 2016 Corolla perfect. Has a sturdy frame. Other name brand ones I have purchased before don't have the sturdy frame and squish up. This comes with tiny fragrant beads on the top part and has a light fresh scent when the air is on. Very happy so far.

Best cabin filter I've ever seen
This is the most complex and over-engineered cabin air filter I have ever seen, and I mean that in a good way! The overall shell is a hard plastic, and inside it are two basic parts; the filter (HEPA quality) and the loose fill activated charcoal. The filter media appears to be operating room quality, and if I were to guess, I would say it's like a MERV 14 or greater. The pleats are plentiful, and the spacing of the pleats are perfect, as well as the attachment of the media to the filter frame. The charcoal is a loose style fill, and it fits between the back of the filter media and the filter screen on the very back. This must have 5 times the amount of charcoal compared to the charcoal infused media you can get from many suppliers. The frame fits perfect in my 4runner, and it is hard plastic with good gasket material to further help the effectiveness of the media. All in all, this is an incredibly engineered filter, and if you're the type that wants nothing but the best for your vehicle, you've come to the right place by choosing this one. It is pricey, at $20 for one filter at the time of writing this review, but this is a textbook case of "you get what you pay for." I am going to start only buying these from now on, as they are the best quality and construction filter I have seen, and I highly recommend this filter!

A Simple, Affordable Cabin Filter That Does the Job
I have a mechanic I really trust, which is no small thing these days. The trade off is that he charges a little more for routine services like oil changes, and those visits always include a full vehicle inspection. To manage the cost, I make a point of handling the easy maintenance items myself so he does not feel the need to replace them with higher priced OEM parts. Cabin air filters fall squarely into that category. It takes me about two minutes to replace one, and doing it myself typically saves around fifty dollars. That was the motivation behind picking up this filter for my Toyota Sienna. Right out of the package it fit perfectly. The size is exact, which is important since cabin filters need a snug frame to work properly. There is a clear airflow direction arrow printed on the side, which is one of the two key things I always look for. Without that, it becomes guesswork and you risk installing the filter backward. With the arrow in place, installation is a quick slide and close operation. Functionally, cabin filters are hard to evaluate in real time. You do not get a dramatic change the moment you swap them out. What I rely on instead is whether they fit correctly, whether they load evenly over time and whether they avoid shedding material as they age. Based on construction and feel, this one meets those expectations. It is pleated well and the frame holds its shape. All signs point to it filtering properly, which is the baseline requirement. Because cabin filters need changing fairly often, it never makes sense to overspend on OEM versions unless you have a specific airflow sensitivity or unique environmental need. This filter costs far less and performs the key functions just as well for general use. In my Southern California environment, where dust and pollen appear regularly, I prefer to replace filters on the more frequent side, which makes the lower cost even more practical. The simplicity of the whole process is what I appreciate most. No tools, no struggle, no surprises. The filter pops in cleanly, the compartment closes and the job is done. When paired with the peace of mind of not paying dealership pricing for such a simple part, it becomes an easy product to recommend. A dependable, properly fitting cabin filter at a very reasonable price. Four stars.

So premium I can't even test the quality
edit- after about six weeks of driving through various conditions I can say that the air quality this filter produces is excellent., removing all smoggy odor. There is a minor soapy smell that is not offensive, just unusual. So I am very pleased with this item. original review- This really seems like a premium upgrade compared to the budget filters I normally buy. Unfortunately I live in a hot and dry climate (no humidity buildup to cause musty or sour odors and AC always running which dries the air also) and I do not smoke so I never have any odor problems in my vehicle to test the charcoal feature with. I also am not prone to dust allergies so I don't know how helpful the HEPA feature is. If I get stuck in traffic in a smoggy area or behind an especially smoggy vehicle I will switch to fresh air mode to learn if the charcoal feature helps and update this review. There is no paperwork in the box or arrows printed on the filter to determine which way to insert it. I am assuming the airflow path is downward and should pass through the paper side first, so I installed the paper side up.
