A Holiday for Love (aka Christmas in My Hometown) stars Tim Matheson as Jake Peterson, a man who has spent his entire life climbing the corporate ladder at Beane Tractor Corporation. Although a top-level executive, he’s also a lonely man living in a big city. The week before Christmas his boss has ordered massive downsizing at Beane for the sake of corporate profits. Jake’s mission is to go back to his hometown of Athens, Nebraska and secretly assess who should be fired at the local assembly plant. But complications arise when he meets Emma (Melissa Gilbert), a young widow whose father manages the factory. Soon Jake is faced with the dilemma of following his boss's orders or following his heart.

Also stars Travis Tritt and Michelle Trachtenburg.

atmospheric illustrations and a story about sharing imagination
Format: Hardcover
I received this book as part of the LibraryThing EarlyReviewer program. The illustrations are photographs of collage, with some digital editing to add snow effects. It's a bit of an atmospheric "kids go for a walk in the snow" book, a la The Snowy Day, but for older kids. I liked how there was a subtle background story about children trying to navigate having slightly conflicting imaginative stories. It can be a challenge for a kid to learn how to do this when playing with others. The illustrations of the dragon especially were a wonderful surprise. My 8 year old loved the book and is happy that we get to keep it.

I was immediately drawn to this book by the bewitching title and exquisite artwork. We follow two sisters, Celeste and Miriam, on their garden adventure in the magical snow. This story was the perfect length, with enchanting drawings and an adorable plot with charming sisters. Such a joy to read I will definitely be looking forward to reading this book with my daughter. I could see it being a winter favorite.
