Growing Instructions for Pakistan

1. Ideal Timing (Sowing Window)

As mentioned, timing is everything in Pakistan to avoid the "burning" heat of May/June.

  • Best Time: September 15th to October 15th.

  • This allows the plant to grow during the mild autumn, flower in winter, and be ready for harvest in March/April before the heatwaves hit.

2. Soil Preparation

  • Type: Chia thrives in sandy loam or well-drained soils. It hates waterlogging; if the roots stay wet, they will rot.

Preparation: Plow the field or garden bed 2–3 times to make the soil fine. Add well-rotted cow dung (organic manure) to boost nutrient levels.

3. Sowing Method

  • Seed Rate: You only need about 1.5 to 2 kg of seed per acre. For a home garden, a tiny pinch is enough for a large pot.

  • Depth: Do not bury the seeds deep. Chia seeds are tiny and need light to germinate.

Technique: Use the "Broadcast" method (sprinkling) or sow in rows 1.5 feet apart. Lightly rake the soil over them or just press them down.

4. Watering & Maintenance

  • First Irrigation: Give a very light watering immediately after sowing.

  • Frequency: Once established, chia is quite drought-tolerant. In Pakistan's climate, watering every 10–15 days during the winter is usually sufficient.

  • Weeding: Keep the area clear of weeds for the first 45 days. Once the chia plant grows tall, its canopy will naturally shade out most weeds.

5. Harvesting

  • Signs: The crop is ready when the flower spikes turn brown and the leaves start to fall off.

  • Process: Cut the spikes and let them dry on a clean cloth or floor for a few days.

  • Threshing: Gently beat the dried spikes to release the seeds. Clean them using a fine sieve to remove dust and husks.

Logical and easy to read
Format: Paperback
St. Pope John Paul II may have been a polymath, but his approach to explaining the metaphysical relationship of man and the human condition as it relates to theology and our relationship with God make this a great read!

Food for thought (and life) for ages to come
Format: Paperback
Blessed John Paul II shared with the whole world the fruit of years of lived life and deep reflection, prior to being elected Bishop of Rome. Anyone who wishes to delve into this work is in for a hard-earned yet worthy treat, as it is not always an easy read, but deeply satisfying. John Paul II's understudy and friend, Stanislaw Grygiel, once challenged the pope saying that few would actually understand what he taught. The Pope replied, "Some things just have to be said!" Thanks to Prof. Michael Waldstein, we have an excellent introduction and much-improved translation of this monumental work. As I said in the title, there is the pope's catecheses on the theology of the body much food for thought (and life...and love!) for ages to come. Blessed John Paul II, thank you and pray for us!

Good to use every night...I do.
If you suffer from dry mouth during the night, these are the perfect solution. I had tried rinses - they don't last. Sprays - they don't last. lozenges - don't last. Other tablets, only last a few hours. I can get about 8 hours relief with these. Contrary to other reviews, you do not suck on them like a lozenge...they won't last at all if you do it that way. Read the directions. They "adhere" to your back molars...don't drink or eat after putting them in...as both will either dislodge or reduce the effectiveness. However, when I don't use these, my mouth is miserable and so dry. These provide enough moisture throughout the night. The flavors aren't too bad. I've used the mint (not may favorite because I'm not a fan of mint flavor), orange and berry. I wish they had other flavors (cinnamon, licorice), but till then, I'll use these probably forever.

Really helpful for dry mouth.
Scent Name: Berry, Size: 100 Count
These really work. I wear a CPAP and my mouth was so dry I was waking up with my tongue stuck to the roof of my mouth. They stick well so no worry of swallowing it during the night. I like the berry flavor.
