The Popoto Modem S1000Li is a compact and self-powered underwater acoustic modem that brings reliability, performance, and flexibility to subsea communication. Equipped with an integrated 22.2 V, 2500 mAh lithium-ion battery, it delivers a fully self-contained solution for deployments where external power is not practical. Its rugged machined aluminum housing, depth-rated to 1000 m, ensures dependable operation in even the most challenging environments.
Supporting multiple modulation schemes with data rates from 80 bps up to 10,240 bps, the S1000Li provides versatile communication options across a range of conditions, with typical ranges of up to 4 km (depending on modulation scheme and environmental conditions). A high-power transmitter outputs up to 175–180 dB re 1 µPa @ 1 m, while advanced two-way acoustic ranging delivers <0.3 m accuracy, enabling both reliable data transfer and precise positioning.
Integration is effortless with support for Python, MATLAB®, C++, and JSON APIs, along with options for Ethernet, RS-232, or RS-422 interfacing. The onboard 1.4GHz Arm® Cortex®-A53 processor running Linux allows custom applications and logging, all stored on 32GB of onboard storage.
With its slim profile (376 mm × 49 mm × 49 mm) and manageable weight (1175 g dry / 513 g in water), the S1000Li delivers the power, accuracy, and portability demanded by today’s ocean engineers, researchers, and IoT innovators.
