In the distance a number of booms, sail across a wind-rippled ocean. The nearest boom flies three sails, the first from the bow, the second from the main mast, and the third from the rear mast. This image was taken during Wilfred Thesiger's May 18-28, 1948 journey by dhow from Dubai to Bahrain Island.
