The McLaren Speedtail: a car like no other. A pure fusion of science and art in automotive form.

The fourth addition in the McLaren Ultimate Series, the Speedtail is McLaren’s first ever Hyper-GT, their most aerodynamically efficient car ever and the fastest McLaren to date, bring together unprecedented levels of McLaren innovation and elegance to create a new benchmark in automotive design. Born from McLaren’s single-minded mantra, ‘everything for a reason’, the design minimises all unnecessary shutlines and, while some elements are visually striking, such as the unique elongated tail and static wheel covers, others are less obvious but just as important. The Speedtail is minimalist elegance at its peak. Powered by a revolutionary 1055bhp hybrid powertrain, the combined result of the engine, the aerodynamic design and a dry weight of only 1,499kg means the Speedtail can reach 300km/h (186mph) in just 12.8 seconds from a standing start, before going on to a top speed of 403km/h (250mph).

No other hypercar puts the driver centre-stage in the way the Speedtail does. The central driving position, echoing its spiritual predecessor the McLaren F1, offers an unparalleled view of the road and, combined with a seamless dashboard design and stunning use of glass, helps to create a unique sense of space and balance behind the wheel. This is the modern driving experience, reimagined in McLaren’s way. The theme is continued using extraordinarily innovative materials, like next-generation carbon fibre and the finest North-European leather that has been honed to hold the driver in their seat, exuding excellence and ultimate elegance throughout the interior.

Only 106 Speedtails will be produced and each single one will be totally unique, with an endless selection of exclusive, innovative materials to be used across the entirety of the car.

This perfect 1:8 scale model is of the Speedtail as unveiled in London in October 2018 and has over 1000 parts. It has been meticulously handcrafted and finished in our workshops with the co-operation and assistance of the manufacturer regarding original finishes, materials, archive imagery and drawings. The use of original CAD supplied by McLaren has allowed us to perfectly recreate every detail at scale. Furthermore, the prototype model has undergone detailed scrutiny by the manufacturer’s engineering and design teams to ensure complete accuracy of representation. Every Amalgam 1:8 scale model is supplied in a luxury black presentation box and mounted on a carbon fibre or leather base protected by a clear acrylic dust cover. The model title, original branding and edition number are displayed on polished stainless steel plaques mounted at the front end of the base.
