Bold tribal geometry and strong architectural structure define this vintage hand knotted Heriz runner from northwestern Iran. The deep red field is filled edge to edge with angular diamond motifs, hooked medallion forms, and tribal geometric devices rendered in turquoise, sage, ivory, rose, and blue. Unlike more floral Persian traditions, Heriz weaving relies on strong rectilinear drawing and highly graphic composition, qualities beautifully preserved in this piece. A central diamond medallion in ivory and turquoise anchors the field, while partial medallions extending from the upper and lower edges create continuity throughout the full runner length. The charcoal border introduces dense tribal floral motifs in red, rose, and ivory, while a striking periwinkle blue guard stripe creates visual separation between the dark border and warm red field. Vegetable dyed wool enriches every tone with remarkable warmth and clarity, especially the deep red background whose richness has remained beautifully consistent across decades of aging. Preserved in mint condition with full pile intact, this runner offers exceptional tribal authenticity and decorative impact.

Kerman rugs from southeastern Iran are internationally renowned for their intricate craftsmanship, highly decorative compositions, and refined artistic sophistication. Since the Safavid period, Kerman has been one of Persia’s most influential weaving centers, producing carpets celebrated for their graceful curvilinear drawing and extraordinary use of color. Traditional Kerman designs frequently feature central medallions, floral sprays, vase motifs, hunting scenes, arabesques, and elaborate garden inspired compositions rendered with remarkable precision. The weaving process is highly labor intensive, often requiring many months or even years to complete depending on size and complexity. Kerman rugs are especially admired for their sophisticated palettes incorporating deep crimson, indigo, ivory, turquoise, gold, blush, and sage tones balanced harmoniously throughout the composition. Their combination of technical mastery, decorative richness, and timeless Persian elegance continues to make them among the world’s most respected handmade carpets.

It works
The adhesion on this is great once you've pressed it down. Key to note that it slips off very easily if it's not firmly pressed to the paper Im sublimating with. That's more of a plus for me because it's easy to move around and adjust without ripping the paper. Great value for the dollar overall. Performance wise it's done a great job of holding down the paper and stopping bleed through.
