романі 'Марина — цариця московська' розповідається історія життя Марини Мнішек, польської графині. Вісімнадцятирічна дочка воєводи з українського Самбора стала царицею та дружиною двох царів тих лихих часів, які на Русі прозвали Смутними. Свої листи на батьківщину Мнішек підписувала: 'Марина — цариця московська'. Щоправда, вона була нею всього лише дев’ять днів у 1606-му році. Також у романі автор зображує кохання Марини до молодого царя Дмитрія, її останню любов до козацького отамана Івана Заруцького.
