Югані Аго — справжнє ім'я Йоганнес Бруфельдт, фінський письменник, журналіст, політичний діяч, перекладач. У 1884 році вийшла повість 'Залізниця' — кращий твір у  творчості Аго, де він застосовував прийом поєднання збірних, типових персонажів з природними спостереженнями і настроями. З 1880-х років Аго активно займався журналістикою та перекладами. У 1890-х роках Аго пише історичні твори, зокрема збірку новел 'Ті, що прокинулися' (1894), романи 'Для пана' (1897), 'Весна і зази?мки' (1906) про події середини XIX століття, пов'язані з фінським національним самоусвідомленням. У 1911 році вийшла повість 'Юга'. Спочатку твір не отримав відгуків, але пізніше, вже після смерті Аго, його було визнано одним з найвидатніших у творчості письменника. Українською мовою перекладено вперше.
