Victron RS232 to USB Interface Cable for Reliable Data Communication

Seamless Connectivity Between Legacy RS232 Devices and Modern USB Systems

The Victron RS232 to USB Converter Cable provides a dependable bridge between Victron equipment featuring an RS232 port and computers or GX devices with USB inputs. Engineered for industrial and datacommunication applications, this cable ensures stable signal conversion for configuration, monitoring, and system integration tasks. Its shielded design minimises electromagnetic interference, making it suitable for environments where data integrity is critical.

Whether you are configuring a Victron inverter/charger, integrating a battery monitor into a larger energy management system, or performing firmware updates, this converter cable delivers consistent performance. The plug-and-play nature reduces setup time, while the robust construction withstands the demands of field use.

Key Features

  • Converts RS232 serial signals to USB for direct connection to modern hardware
  • Shielded cable with silver braided jacket protects against signal noise and physical wear
  • Male DB9 RS232 connector and standard USB Type-A connector for broad compatibility
  • Compact, lightweight design for easy transport and installation in tight spaces
  • Compatible with Victron products featuring an RS232 interface, including inverter/chargers and battery monitors

Built for Industrial and Mobile Environments

Unlike generic USB-to-serial adapters, this Victron cable is purpose-built for the specific voltage levels and communication protocols used in Victron energy systems. The clear-jacketed silver braided shielding reduces the risk of data corruption caused by nearby power cables or radio frequency interference—a common challenge in off-grid solar installations, marine engine rooms, and vehicle-based setups. The moulded strain relief on both connectors extends cable life by preventing breakage at stress points.

For installers and system integrators, this reliability translates to fewer troubleshooting callbacks and more consistent system performance. The cable’s length provides flexibility in equipment layout without excessive slack that could create trip hazards or snag points.

Applications

  • Configuring Victron inverter/chargers and solar charge controllers via VE.Configure software
  • Connecting a Victron battery monitor to a PC for data logging and analysis
  • Integrating legacy RS232-based Victron devices into a Victron GX system (e.g., Cerbo GX) that lacks a native RS232 port
  • Performing firmware updates on compatible Victron hardware
  • Industrial automation setups requiring reliable serial-to-USB conversion

Why Choose the Victron RS232 to USB Cable?

Using a standard, non-Victron USB-to-serial adapter can lead to communication errors, driver conflicts, or even hardware damage if voltage levels are mismatched. This Victron cable is validated for use with their product range, reducing the risk of compatibility issues. The integrated electronics handle signal level conversion accurately, ensuring that commands and data are transmitted without corruption. For professionals who depend on precise energy management, this reliability is essential.

Additionally, the cable’s shielded construction helps maintain signal integrity over longer cable runs compared to unshielded alternatives. This is particularly beneficial in installations where the computer or GX device must be located some distance from the Victron equipment.

Get Connected with Confidence

Equip your toolkit with the Victron RS232 to USB Converter Cable and streamline your Victron system configuration and monitoring. Whether you are a marine electrician, off-grid solar installer, or DIY enthusiast, this cable provides the reliable link you need. Add it to your order today and ensure seamless communication between your Victron devices and USB-enabled hardware.

Growing pains
Format: Paperback
Middle school sucks. The transition from elementary to middle school is painfully isolating for Dani. In elementary school, Dani knew exactly where she fit in with her friends, she loved recess, sang songs they learned in school. Now, she doesn’t even have a friend in her lunch wave, there’s a bully, she arrives late to class and she has an annoying family. Everything is just wrong. Growing up is lonely, unless she can create a new bff with her magical notebook. Of course, there are consequences to her come-to-life drawings. This story is sweet, funny and well-illustrated. There are many little jokes inside each page too. This book is fun to read. It also uses a wish I always had as a child, to be able to create my own reality. I loved Making Friends, its references to Sailor Moon and its expressive characters. Truly a fun read.

Making Friends
Format: Kindle
This whole series is absolutely fantastic. I love the idea of a magical sketchbook that Dany can draw anything in. My favorite part (and my sister’s), is when Prince Neptune acts like he’s about to leave, and he kisses Dany. Then, he tries to yank the sketchbook out of her hands and he yells “So I will reshape this world to fit my needs!” with the most evil look on his face. It’s super funny. All of the backstories were well-developed, and the Madison and Amanda storyline really impressed me! I think anyone with a good sense of humor would love this book.

Cute story about friendship with a fantastical twist.
Format: Kindle, Format: Kindle
Amazon has been recommending me this book for quite some time now, and since I read a lot of reviews saying that the premise was very interesting/ unusual, I decided to give it a shot. I bought the Kindle version. #1 The artwork: I'm a huge fan of graphic novels, so the art on the cover caught my eye immediately. I liked the overall style, and color palette. However I feel like the interior art falls flat sometimes. No doubt that the artist knows her stuff, but I felt like sometimes she might not have had such a strong handle on the characters. The line thickness tended to vary from panel to panel on some pages, and some characters didn't always look like they belonged in the same universe. #2: The story (spoilers): The concept for this was very interesting, and I enjoyed it for the most part, but there were some things about the story I thought were unnecessary. I don't think Prince Neptune needed to be a character at all. To me, his only real purpose was to make Danny into a less likable version of herself, and to end the book when he destroyed the school. The ending I also thought was a little weird. I had read reviews about it beforehand, but It still caught me completely off guard. I know the story is fantasy, obviously, but I think it could've been toned down just a smidge. I think if the plot focused more on the relationship between Danny, Madison, and even Danny's other friends, I would've given it five stars. I found myself asking a lot of questions about them in terms of who they were to Danny, and why it seemed like they all stopped hanging out for seemingly no reason. A point was made that Danny had a different schedule than them, but I didn't even see her make an effort to preserve her relationships despite this. One things I really want to praise the book on however, is the humor. There was a lot of subtle jokes for older readers that I chuckled at, that would probably fly over a kid's head. For those who are wondering, there's no swearing/ inappropriate words, but some bullying/ teasing/ crying is depicted. There is also fantasy "violence", but it's nothing worse than what you'd see in a Saturday morning cartoon on Disney channel. #3 Final Thoughts: Overall, I would recommend this book if you have young kids interested in this kind of thing. I'm not the target demographic for this, so I'm a bit more critical, however if someone had put this in the hands of 9 year old me, I would've absolutely loved it to bits.

My son selected this book to read with his school instructional support as a means to mimic a high cap program. My son likes to read books on this topic, which I find a little depressing and a little dark...but listening to the thought provoking conversations that tutor and student had over ZOOM....this is highly recommended. I did not read the book, but both tutor and student enjoyed reading it. They were a little sad to move to another book. The conversations that I overhead did a wonderful job of providing historical references (which I find lacking in his schooling so far), portraying how the characters FELT, what motivated them, and in general connecting my son to a world far bigger than greater than within our Covid quarantined city. Not sure how much of this wonderful learning experience was based on the talent and experience of the tutor, but ALLIES provided content that was educational, emotional and allowed the tutor to delve deeper, connect ideas, draw inferences and start predicting outcomes. She was trying to teach him to immerse himself in the reading....not just reading for a reading log. This was a very successful 'book club' for my son.
