A wonderfully sculptural antique French ice cream mold cast in the form of a proud hen, complete with feathered detailing and classic farmhouse charm. These heavy metal molds were used in the late 19th and early 20th centuries to create elaborate frozen desserts for formal dinners and grand buffets. Simply pack with ice cream, freeze, unmold — and present a perfectly formed hen at table.
Marked “France” along the side, this example has beautiful weight and presence. Today, it’s equally compelling styled in a kitchen vignette, tucked into a baker’s collection, or repurposed as a charming tabletop accent.
