The optical design uses two SLD elements to virtually eliminate chromatic aberration and colour fringing across the focal region, improving clarity and colour reproduction. A super multi-layer coating has also been applied to enhance contrast when working in bright light.
Balancing its optical merits, the lens also features a floating internal focus design that maintains consistent sharpness throughout the focus range. A hypersonic motor provides fast and quiet autofocus performance, while an optical stabilizer minimizes camera shake for sharper handheld shots.
