We love to vacuum seal our mason jars!  Specifically, after we pack a jar full of dried or freeze-dried mushrooms, we like add a dessicant pack and then vacuum seal the lid to remove the air and mitigate the oxydization for long-term storage.

It is so satisfying to pull the jar out of the pantry a year later, and "pop" the lid off.  Even after we use some of the mushrooms, we often vacuum seal the jar again!

This vacuum sealer works with both regular sized lids and wide-mouth jar lids.  It is battery powered and can be recharged using the included (standard) USB cable.  The top of the sealer has a battery life indicator which we love and we can seal over 20 jars on one charge. 

We have noted the following tips for success:

• Make sure your lids are good. Bent lids or old lids with knackered rubber rings sometimes won't seal
• Pressing down lightly on the unit, while it seals, also tends to help it create a really good seal.
• After you seal, you can store the jars without rings.
