Ed Blanchard was best known for making spurs that fit a cowboy's boots. Yet Blanchard was known to family and friends as a wild, reckless cowboy long before horsemen of the West. recognized him as a master maker of cowboy spurs. It was his years spent herding cattle and cinching his saddle on broncs that taught him his trade as both a cowboy and a spur maker.

This lively, illustrated story of the man and his craft relies heavily on the memories of Blanchard's cousin, New Mexico rancher Tom Kelly of Water Canyon, who grew up with Ed and his friends. Co-author Jane Pattie has researched the times and added historical background, and she has also drawn on interviews she did with Blanchard for her earlier book, Cowboy Spurs and Their Makers'. But it is from Kelly that she has uncovered Blanchard's work in the cattle business and how he learned from a neighboring rancher the art of hammering hot steel into the shape of spurs. Kelly's ranch life as well as his own spurs are also pictured in this attractive and inviting little volume.

Together, Pattie and Kelly tell a dual tale of old times and of change: the story of spur making as experienced by one of its more prolific practitioners and the story of cowboys in the early part of the twentieth century. Through Blanchard's experiences, the authors trace the changes of' western life, from horse to pickup truck, from hand-forged spurs to those of'commercial manufacture. Ranch life, cowboying, and metalworking in the American West are interwoven through the book, as they were in the real life of Ed Blanchard, who emerges from these pages as a humorous, down-home regional character readers will be glad to get to know.

Perhaps an ultra soft mode is missing
It works great, but my kiddo found the vibration too strong for his mouth, he's using it turned off for now 😒

Good value and good quality toothbrush.
This is a rechargeable electric sonic toothbrush. This toothbrush is aimed at kids with a rocket dinosaur design. This toothbrush has a two minute timer and has a reminder every 30 seconds for each quadrant of your mouth. This has three different modes for power and is waterproof with a long battery life. This also comes with four brush heads and this comes very presentable and attractive to the eye. This would make a great gift and this makes brushing a lot of fun for the younger crowd. This toothbrush feels like it's a good quality and seems to be made very well. This has a good durability and feels like it would last a long time. This is super easy to use, as you simply charge it and turn it on, pick your mode, and brush, Giving this a good functionality. The timer is a great reminder and this is charged on the bottom that is covered with rubber plug. This can not be charged in the base and the base is not a charger. The value on this is very good this is not expensive and this is made very well for the price this would also make a great gift giving this a very good value in my opinion and at the time of this review. Overall, this Sonic electric toothbrush for kids is fantastic This is great for the kids to get into brushing and could work for them up into their early pre-teen years. I would have no issues recommending this.

Adorable and Functional
My 6-year-old loves this toothbrush. It's cute and fun and easay to hold. While I don't think dinosaurs are necessarily his thing, its cartoony enough that he appreciates it. I thought the vibration modes might be a little too powerful for him, but apparently not because he's been using it for a month and I haven't heard any complaints: I definitely would if there was a problem. The rubberized coating on it is handy for the inevitable dropping it because toothpaste gets on it and it becomes too slippery, or it gets bumped off the bathroom counter. I do wish the stand was set up to allow charging while sitting in it, but you can't have everything I guess. The brush size is perfect for him, not too large or too small. While it does have a noticeable sound, it isn't excessively loud either in the mouth or outside of it.

Cute toothbrush!
This toothbrush has an excellent design. The little dinosaur is cute, and the spaceship bottom is just the cherry on top. I do wish the bottom was a charger too, but the battery life is supposedly 75 days so it should not be on the charger much anyways. It looks pretty good, and the lower sonic function seems soft enough of a vibration that my 5 year old should be fine with it (he has his first loose tooth right now, so was a bit concerned). I think it cleans and brushes well. The documentation states these are dupont brush heads, and it comes with 4 of them. As a side note, there is one that will be out of the bag. Grab that one for the initial head, not the ones in the bag like I did. I think its fairly durable as well. It didn't feel too heavy or too light, or more importantly too flimsy. I like it has some different modes, I didn't honestly notice until I went back to look at the documentation that this was possible. The big thing to keep in mind here is does your toddler deal well with vibration. My 5 year old seems cool with it so far, though you should still supervise them so they don't brush too hard.
