The stakes have to be used when planting Delphinium to avoid broken stems, and when Delphinium flowers begin to fade, it is recommended to cut back the stalks and fertilize immediately. 

Delphinium Astolat makes a wonderful background plant for perennial flower beds, and Delphinium looks terrific in mass plantings, cottage and cutting gardens, and naturalized landscapes.
