Sherwood Solid Oak Bed Frame with External Angled Leg Detail
A Masterclass in Joinery and Strength
Handcrafted in The Old Joinery, Berkhamsted, the Sherwood bed frame embodies both elegance and endurance.
Its defining feature is the recessed angled solid oak legs, carefully fitted to the bed frame sides with an expressed jigsaw-style joint. This visible joint detail celebrates the craftsmanship while creating an extremely clean, strong, and visually striking finish.
The leg functions as both the support and statement piece in the design.
The legs are positioned approximately 200mm in from each end of the bed, so they sit away from the corners and make it less likely you’ll knock your feet as you walk around the frame. Each leg has a rounded angled profile with gentle curves and crisp lines, giving the frame a refined yet grounded presence.
Key Features
- Jigsaw-Style Joint – Legs fitted into the side rails with precision for unmatched strength and seamless alignment.
- External Joint Detail – Expressed jigsaw-style joint on the outside of the frame, showcasing honest construction.
- Recessed Angled Legs Set In From Corners – Legs positioned approx. 200mm in from each end to reduce bumped feet and improve circulation around the bed.
- Rounded Angled Profile – Gentle curves paired with clean lines for a timeless, architectural look.
- Versatile Leg Options – A choice of solid oak leg styles to complement both classic and contemporary bedrooms.
- Handcrafted in England – Designed and made in The Old Joinery, Berkhamsted.
- Solid Oak Construction – Sustainably sourced oak, each frame displaying its own unique grain character.
- Built to Last – A true investment in craftsmanship and longevity.
Versatile Use: Daybed or Main Bed
The Sherwood’s adaptable design makes it ideal as a main bed or styled as a daybed. Its robust oak frame and precision jointing ensure daily durability, while the natural finish and clean lines make it easy to dress with cushions and textiles for relaxed daytime lounging.
Why Choose the Sherwood?
The Sherwood is more than a bed frame – it’s a statement of traditional joinery brought into modern design. The expressed external joint detail and recessed angled legs add strength beyond standard methods while elevating the overall aesthetic. With solid oak construction and hand-finished detailing, this bed is designed to last a lifetime and become more beautiful as the years pass.
