It is woven in the "Rah Rah" or "Road" design with horizontal stripes featuring blue and off-white patterns intricately decorated onto the basic brown/rust red base flat weave. Soumak Rugs are also known as “warp-wrapped” weavings, highly appreciated for their finely woven, textured or “embroidered” structure and linear / geometric patterns and designs. Soumaks are not reversible and, often, one directional. Due to the threads used to create the "embroidery" which are typically left "loose " on the back of the weaving, generally, Soumak Rugs benefit from the use of a non-slip rug mat or pad to prevent movement on hard surfaces such as wood or tiles.
