Victron BlueSolar PWM-Light 48V 20A Solar Charge Controller: Reliable PWM Charging with Intelligent Load Control
Efficient 48V Solar Regulation for Off-Grid and Backup Systems
The Victron BlueSolar PWM-Light 48V 20A Solar Charge Controller delivers dependable PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) charging for 48V battery systems, combining straightforward operation with essential load management features. Designed for small to medium off-grid solar installations, this controller ensures your batteries are charged efficiently while protecting them from over-discharge through its integrated low voltage disconnect.
Unlike generic PWM controllers, the BlueSolar PWM-Light series incorporates Victron’s proven three-stage charging algorithm (bulk, absorption, float), optimised for 48V lead-acid and lithium (LiFePO4) batteries. This extends battery lifespan and maximises usable capacity, reducing the risk of premature battery failure in remote or unattended systems.
Smart Load Output with Lighting Control
A standout feature is the programmable load output, which can be configured for manual control, low voltage disconnect, or automated lighting schedules. The intuitive two-digit seven-segment display allows quick setup of timer functions, making it ideal for controlling 12V/24V DC lights (via a DC-DC converter) or other loads directly from the controller. This eliminates the need for separate timers or relays in many applications.
The load output is protected against overload and short circuit, with automatic shutdown after 60 seconds at 130% load or 5 seconds at 160% load, and immediate shutdown on short circuit. This robust protection reduces the risk of damage to connected equipment and wiring.
Built for Harsh Australian Conditions
Engineered to operate at full load in temperatures from -20°C to +50°C, the BlueSolar PWM-Light is well-suited to the Australian climate. Its IP20 protection rating is designed for indoor or protected enclosure mounting, keeping the compact unit (95 x 140 x 33.5 mm) safe from dust and moisture ingress. The controller also features reverse polarity protection on both the solar array and battery connections, preventing accidental damage during installation.
