The set comprises one Sovereign struck in the standard proof finish and one struck in reverse proof (reverse frosted) finish.
The new issues return to traditional yellow gold, replacing the recent red gold versions, and feature the uncrowned portrait of King Charles III by Martin Jennings. The reverse showcases the classic Benedetto Pistrucci St George and the Dragon design.
The King Charles III Sovereign carries the obverse legend “CHARLES III · DEI · GRA · REX · FID · DEF”, which in Latin translates to “King Charles III, by the Grace of God, King, Defender of the Faith.”
