The true story of the Wilniewczyc and Skrzypinski or Vis pistol is very interesting and hopefully its telling will promote more research about the people who were responsible for its creation and the other weapons that they designed, so they may take their place among the acknowledged gun designers of the world.

Little accurate information has heretofore been published about the Vis. This is in part because the Vis had a relatively short life as an official weapon. It was made for only a few years before WWII and then by the occupying German forces during the war with its production halted in 1945 by the Russians. During the ten years of its production, there was little opportunity for any information to evade the universal government desire for secrecy.
