Fitting and handling
Allow the timber to acclimatise in the installation environment for at least 48 hours before fixing, particularly in centrally heated rooms where the air is dry. Fix using screws or lost-head nails and pre-drill near ends to avoid splitting, given the board width. For a lasting finish, apply a primer coat before painting, or a penetrating oil or wood stain if a natural appearance is preferred - redwood accepts most standard interior finishes well.

Yes, the 32mm thickness makes this board a practical choice for stair treads on domestic stair flights. It is solid timber, not laminated, so it machines, sands and finishes cleanly. Check your Building Regulations for minimum tread depth and nosing requirements before cutting to size.
Can I use this redwood PSE board outdoors?
This board is intended for internal use or dry, protected environments only. It is not pressure-treated and is not suitable for exterior applications where it will be exposed to rain or ground contact. For outdoor use, consider a treated or naturally durable species instead.
