The Dutch Boeier is a traditional Dutch sailing ship that can look back on a long history and is considered a symbol of Dutch maritime culture. These ships were specially designed for the shallow waters in the Netherlands and therefore have a characteristic flat bottom without a keel. This allowed them to navigate easily in shallow waters and on sandy beaches, making them ideal for the Dutch coastal regions and the Wadden Sea coast.

The hull of a Boeier is wide and round, and the ships are usually equipped with leeboards that serve as a substitute for a fixed keel. These centreboards give the ship stability when sailing and prevent it from drifting to the side. The high, upward-curving bow is also typical of the Boeier, often richly decorated and often used as a status symbol in the 17th and 18th centuries. The ship type was available in different sizes and was used for trade as well as for leisure and even for fishing.

In the 19th century, the Boeier gradually lost its importance as more modern ship models became established and steam navigation began. Nevertheless, the Boeier remained as a traditional leisure and sports boat. In the 20th century, it experienced a renaissance, especially among lovers of classic sailing ships and in historical shipbuilding. Today, Boeiers are often seen at traditional sailing regattas and events such as the ‘Skûtsjesilen’ in Friesland. They are a popular and admired example of Dutch craftsmanship and shipbuilding tradition.

The Kit

Corel kit is modelled after the yacht of Elector Maximilian Emanuel II, an important Bavarian ruler and military leader. He took a particular interest in naval art and shipbuilding, which led him to introduce the design and use of such boats in Bavaria. He was impressed by the Boeier type during his time in the Netherlands, where he gained military and cultural experience that he later brought to his native Bavaria. Maximilian Emanuel II used the Boeier for representative and diplomatic purposes on Bavarian waters and popularised the design in Bavaria.

This model kit impresses with its extensive features in proven Corel quality. All wooden parts are perfectly lasered. Parts of the planking are already included in this kit as laser-cut parts. The complete fittings set is equipped with the extensive decorations made of cast brass, which make this model a special piece. The construction plan contains many detailed sketches in addition to the large views, spread over 10 plan sheets, which are supplemented by the four-language construction manual with a parts list. A simple model stand is included.

Great value, quality ingredients, absolute MUST-HAVE!
Size: 60 Count (Pack of 1)
Can’t believe how cheap these are! I’m on my second bottle and i can tell when I’ve forgotten to take them as I feel a bit sluggish. These help with energy, my skin looks more ‘glowy’ and I tend to be in a more chipper mood. Another awesome plus to these are the extra Ingredients specifically for women’s health; cranberry being one less supplement To worry about.

Defining Christian Education
What distinguishes a truly Christian education from what a student might receive from a secular university or college, or one that is merely "church-related"? Renewing Minds by David S. Dockery is an attempt at defining Christian higher education. Dockery is a noted scholar and President of Union University (TN), a liberal arts college which is fast becoming one of the premier Christian universities in America. As defined by Dockery, Christian education is all about instilling in students a Christian world and life view that prepares them "to think Christianly, to think critically, to think imaginatively," thus "preparing them for leadership and preparing them for life" (26-27). The goal is not to brainwash or program students in a particular doctrinal or theological point of view. The one who has a Christian liberal arts education need not fear the challenges of secular scholarship. Rather, the educated Christian is able to appreciate the culture in which be or she lives while being "able to bring truth to bear on the prevailing zeitgeist of that culture" (111). Armed with a Christian worldview firmly rooted in biblical revelation, the Christian is able to challenge "the presuppositions of our contemporary culture, both secular and Christian [emphasis added], which in their current forms seems to be pragmatic, disjointed, and unconnected" (113). Christian higher education must take place in a university setting that "is not a church" but "a faith-informed, faith-affirming, and grace-filled community. . ."(141). It is a community of believers seeking truth within an atmosphere of academic freedom operating within the limits set by the historic orthodox faith. It is an academic community in which the faculty are active scholars and teachers, and where the students are pursuing an intellectual understanding of their faith and not merely pursuing the skills and knowledge necessary for employment. Whether you are a parent seeking a Christian college or university for a child, or simply one who desires a better understanding of what Christian higher education really is, Renewing Minds is must reading.
