Shakudo Nanako Fittings Set - Signed "Nagamine" - Minamoto Yoshitsune and BenkeiFittings set decorated with Genpei War theme. Tsuba is signed "Nagamine" with Kao and fuchikashira is signed "Karaku Ju Nagamine" with Kao. Ayanokoji Nagamine was active around 1750 1775 in Kyoto. When researching the verified signatures I noticed that there are some major differences between them. Fittings set decorated with Genpei War theme. Tsuba is signed "Nagamine" with Kao and fuchikashira is signed "Karaku Ju Nagamine" with Kao. Ayanokoji Nagamine was active around 1750-1775 in Kyoto. When researching the verified signatures I noticed that there are some major differences between them. Please take a closer look at the top two signature form the examples provided form "Toso Kodogu Meiji Taikei". On the left one of "住" third strike is made from left to right. One the right one from right to left. There are few more less striking but visible differences. In my opinion signature on fuchikashira is similar to the example on the left, while tsuba signature is similar to the example on the right. According to different sources there might have been two generations of Nagamine which might be the cause of those discrepancies. However based on examples from Haynes second generation Nagamine used different Kao.
This set is decorated with Genpei War theme. Fuchikashira is decorated with Minamoto Yoshitsune and Benkei, at this point I am not sure which episode from their lives is depicted. Menuki shows warriors during battle. Tsuba is decorated with Minamoto Yoshitsune under plum tree in blossom.
