Trailer tongue weight should be 10-15% of the total trailer weight for most bumper-pull trailers. If the tongue weight is too low, the trailer will be prone to sway. If tongue weight is too high then the tow vehicle's rear axle could be overloaded and steering could be light and cause drifting.
