LEONE DE CASTRIS Five Roses Negroamaro Rosato Salento IGT 2024 x 12This was the very first ros wine to be bottled in Italy in 1943. A fine and inviting nose has ripe yellow fruit and a spectrum of wild berries underpinned by spice. Crunchy on the palate, delicate fruit dances over the tongue balanced by gentle salinity and a slightly bitter, green almond finish. This is an excellent partner to most summer flavours, but it’s perfect with the Puglian traditional dish, frisa salentina – toasted bread topped with fresh tomatoes, extra virgin olive oil, oregano and sometimes capers and fresh fish.
