Its fleshy, textured oral disc is covered in short, bubble-like vesicles that shimmer under blue or actinic lighting, creating a velvety appearance. The concentric rings and central mouth form the characteristic “bullseye” pattern, which can include highlights of blue, pink, or green depending on lighting and water chemistry. Durable, adaptable, and visually stunning, this coral is a popular choice for adding richness and contrast to shaded or low-flow areas of the reef aquarium.

Native to the Indo-Pacific region, including the Great Barrier Reef, Coral Sea, Fiji, Tonga, Indonesia, and the Solomon Islands. Commonly found in protected reef slopes, lagoons, and shaded rock outcrops, where lighting is subdued and water flow gentle.

The Purple Bullseye Mushroom Coral is photosynthetic, relying primarily on zooxanthellae within its tissue. It also benefits from supplemental feeding to maintain strong coloration and steady growth. Feed 1–2 times per week with:

• Finely chopped seafood (shrimp, clam, or fish)
• Mysis or enriched brine shrimp
• Marine snow or fine coral foods

• Butterflyfish or large angelfish that may nip the coral’s soft tissue

Moderate.Rhodactis corals can release mild toxins and overgrow nearby species, competing for space. Maintain sufficient spacing from other corals to prevent encroachment.
