ABOUT THE ART

Victor Vasarely’s 'Japet' (1989) is a mesmerizing example of the artist’s pioneering role in the Op Art movement, transforming simple geometric forms into a visually kinetic experience. Originally derived from Vasarely’s earlier 1973 Croisées concept, this expanded large-format serigraph from the artist’s celebrated Série Croisées portfolio pushes black-and-white abstraction into a realm of optical distortion and spatial illusion. The warped checkerboard grid appears to pulse, bend, and recede across the surface, while the vivid electric-blue border intensifies the sensation of depth and movement. Through carefully calculated geometry and contrast, Vasarely creates an image that feels simultaneously mathematical and alive — a hallmark of his groundbreaking visual language. This rare Éditions du Griffon edition was produced in a limited run of only 250 impressions and is hand-signed and numbered by the artist in pencil.

Widely regarded as the “father of Op Art,” Victor Vasarely (1906–1997) revolutionized postwar abstraction through his exploration of perception, movement, and visual psychology. Born in Hungary and later based in France, Vasarely merged influences from Bauhaus design, constructivism, and modern science into a wholly original artistic practice centered on optical illusion and modular form. His works became internationally celebrated during the 1960s and 1970s for their ability to challenge the viewer’s sense of space and reality using only shape, line, and color. Today, Vasarely’s imagery remains deeply influential across contemporary art, graphic design, fashion, and digital media.

Japet' stands as an elegant late-career expression of the artist’s lifelong pursuit of “plastic unity,” demonstrating how minimal visual elements can generate extraordinary sensations of rhythm, vibration, and dimensionality.

Great customer support, but blurry underwater for me.
Color: Blue Hawaii
I'm a casual lap swimmer who swims 30 minutes every day. Needed some decent goggles and saw the Aegend brand was a highly rated bestseller. I first ordered the mirrored version of this lens which is essentially identical to this clear version. Was really excited to hit the pool when I received the goggles. Love the strap system on these Aegends which adjust on the back and has a quick release button...my other goggles have a little short strap that adjusts at the temple and it drives me crazy. Goggles are very comfortable and never fogged up during my swim. Nice field of view. What's the issue then? These goggles are perfectly fine and clear above water, but blurry underwater. The blurriness is like a prism effect. My local YMCA has small tiles and with these goggles the tile lines were duplicated several times over. The effect isn't bad and perhaps some may be able to live with it, but it was annoying to me. Contacted Aegend customer service and they asked if I was myopic (no) and offered to send a replacement free of charge including a choice of couple different models. I chose instead to return the mirrored version and rebuy this clear one thinking perhaps the mirrored tint had something to do with it. Second pair of goggles arrived and same thing--clear above water and blurry underwater. Aegend says not everybody's eyeballs are built the same and again offered to replace the goggle free of charge including to their flat lens which shouldn't have the blurry prism effect. I declined since I know the strap design on their flat lens goggle would drive me crazy. So in summary--these goggles are great and customer support is first rate. But I cannot give the goggles 5 stars since they didn't work for my eye profile and caused everything underwater to be blurry. Doesn't seem like the majority of people buying these goggles have the same issue though so I wouldn't hesitate buying them to see if they work for you. UPDATE 2/14/17. I'm revising my review to 5-stars. Aegend once again contacted me and tried to make things right. They had another swim goggles with the clasp on the back like the one for this product but with a flat lens (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MTXI8SV). These new goggle work great and are clear underwater. Can't say enough about a company that stands by their products like Aegend.

Excellent Goggles — Comfortable, Secure, and No Leaks
Color: Aqua
These goggles are excellent quality and were very easy to adjust. They have good suction and fit nice and tight without being uncomfortable and stayed secure the entire time I was swimming. Not much for style, but these do look pretty cool. I wore them for about an hour with no issues at all—they remained comfortable and didn’t leak, which is a huge plus. The seal held up well without leaving painful pressure marks. The included case is also a great bonus and makes storage and travel easy. Overall, a very solid pair of goggles that perform exactly as expected. Definitely recommend.

Hard Nose Bridge
Color: Blue-black
They seem like nice goggles. I would echo what others have said: The nose bridge is made of hard plastic with two little bumps on each side (conceivably to snap the lens into the nose bridge) that very well may press into your nose, making the goggles uncomfortable to wear. I would look for a pair with a soft nose bridge. I previously owned a pair of Aegend swim goggles with a soft nose bridge that I liked.
