Dali. The Paintings

At the age of six, Salvador Dali (1904-1989) wanted to be a cook. At the age of seven, he wanted to be Napoleon. 'Since then,' he later said, 'my ambition has steadily grown, and my megalomania with it. Now I want only to be Salvador Dali, I have no greater wish.' Throughout his life, Dali was out to become Dali: that is, one of the most significant artists and eccentrics of the 20th century.

This weighty volume is the most complete study of Dali's painted works ever published. After years of research, Robert Descharnes and Gilles Neret located painted works by the master that had been inaccessible for years-so many, in fact, that almost half the featured illustrations appear in public for the first time in this book.

More than a catalogue raisonne, this book contextualizes Dali's oeuvre and its meanings by examining contemporary documents, from writings and drawings to material from other facets of his work, including ballet, cinema, fashion, advertising, and objets d'art. Without these crutches to support analysis, the paintings would simply be a series of many images.

The study is divided into two parts: the first examines Dali's beginnings as an unknown artist. We witness how the young Dali deployed all the isms-Impressionism, Pointillism, Cubism, Fauvism, Purism and Futurism-with playful mastery, and how he would borrow from prevailing trends before ridiculing and abandoning them. The second part unveils the conclusions of Dali's lifelong inquiries, as well as the great legacy he left in works such as Tuna Fishing (1966/67) or Hallucinogenic Toreador (1970). It includes previously unpublished homages to Velazquez or Michelangelo, painted to the same end as the variations on past masters done by his contemporary, Picasso.

We discover how, motivated by the desire to tease out the secrets of great works and become a Velazquez of the mid-20th century, Dali became Dali.

A Small Luxury That Makes a Big Difference
Color: Black/Black
I absolutely love these salt and pepper grinders. They’re sleek, modern, attractive on the table, and honestly much nicer looking than I expected for the price. They even come with their own little caddy, which keeps everything neat and organized and looks great when guests are over. What I love most is how easy they are to use. You simply press a button and instantly get perfectly ground salt or pepper. No twisting, no awkward grinding with two hands, no effort at all. I especially love this for pepper because I use a lot of it when cooking things like soups, lentils, and large meals. Before, hand grinding would make my arm tired, and sometimes I’d end up with uneven chunks of pepper. With these, the grind is smooth, even, and consistent every time. You just hold the button and move it around — quick, simple, and efficient. They also hold a generous amount of salt and pepper, so you’re not constantly refilling them every few days. Honestly, they make cooking easier, they look beautiful on the table, and they feel much more expensive than they are. Excellent purchase and a fantastic gift idea.

Great idea, great product
Color: Black/Black
I’ve been using this electric salt and pepper grinder set for a few weeks now and it’s one of those kitchen upgrades you don’t realize you needed until you have it. the top refill design makes it quick and easy to fill with course salt or peppercorns. It holds a good amount so youre not constantly refilling it I really appreciate that these grinders are rechargeable, and therefore a little more eco friendly. The battery life has been solid so far, and I haven’t had to worry about it dying mid-meal. Using it is super simple, It’s truly one-hand, one-button operation, which makes a big difference when you’re cooking. You can grind seasoning while stirring or holding a pan with your other hand. There’s also an LED light that turns on while grinding, so you can actually see how much seasoning you’re adding—small detail, but surprisingly helpful. There’s a small dial underneath that adjusts the grind size from course to fine. and the salt and pepper come out in a really uniform, consistent grind. Overall, the pros—easy refilling, rechargeable design, adjustable grind size, uniform results, —definitely outweigh the cons. It’s a practical, stylish upgrade that makes everyday cooking feel just a little easier and more polished.

Great Quality, Easy to Use, and Looks Sharp on the Counter
Color: Black/Black, Color: Black/Black
I’ve been using this electronic salt and pepper grinder set for a bit now, and I’m honestly really impressed. First off, the one-handed operation is a game changer. Just press the button and you’re good to go—super convenient when you’re cooking and juggling multiple things. The grind is consistent, and the adjustable coarseness actually works well (not just a gimmick like some others I’ve tried). The build quality feels solid, and I like the clear chamber so you can easily see when you’re running low. The LED light is a nice touch too—it’s subtle but helpful, especially when cooking in lower lighting. Aesthetically, they look clean and modern. The black finish with the matching base makes them look great sitting on the counter instead of having to hide them away. Battery life has been good so far, and refilling is straightforward without making a mess. Overall, these are a big upgrade from manual grinders—more convenient, better control, and they look great. Definitely recommend if you cook regularly or just want something a little nicer in your kitchen setup.

A very good option if manual grinders are problematic
Color: Black/Black
These work well, though I haven’t had them long enough to vouch for charge duration. They are well thought out devices, with an actual light shining from the bottom to help gauge the amount of salt and pepper, even in lo light. :D I haven’t not altered the grind size, so I can’t speak to that either. Grind speed is as good as many hand grinders, so it’s a delight specifically when grinding a lot (salt for Margarita glass edges!). The price was good, and meets my expectations.
