We often hear the Covid-19 pandemic described as “unprecedented”, yet for Christians of earlier times, plague was nothing new. For generations, Church leaders regularly faced the sorts of ethical questions that still prove divisive today. Selecting from the great “plague writings” of the historic church, Todd M. Rester and Stephen M. Coleman have translated and assembled a one-of-a-kind anthology. The wisdom of the past collected in this book offers much needed and trustworthy illumination for pastors, leaders, and laypeople in times of crisis and uncertainty. Many of the works appearing in Faith in the Time of Plague have never been available in English until now. Included in this volume are the writings of Martin Luther, Theodore Beza, Ulrich Zwingli, Cyprian of Carthage, Zacharias Ursinus, Gijsbert Voetius, and many more. Introduced by Peter A. Lillback, Faith in the Time of Plague also includes a Foreword from Mayo Clinic Virologist, Dr. Gregory A. Poland.

______________

“Faith in the Time of Plague: Selected Writings from the Reformation and Post-Reformation could, I suppose, be read as a scholars’ inquiry into classic Protestant writings. But that misses the real point: this is serious theology for serious times—for our times—tightly reasoned, and balm for the soul. All the great voices of classical Reformed thought are here: Beza, Voetius, Rivet’s plea against recklessness, Ursinus on mortality, the prayers of the Reformed English Church. And there is even Luther, reminding everyone caught up in pandemics that ‘God himself shall be his attendant and his physician, too.’ Here is sane advice which, although hundreds of years old, we could wish some modern authorities had heeded. Bounty, indeed, in time of need, and a book for the bedside and chairside.” Allen C. Guelzo, Senior Research Scholar in the Council of the Humanities at Princeton University, Director of the James Madison Program Initiative on Politics and Statesmanship

Great Quality and Look
Color: Grey Green, Size: Medium
21st century materials are here to save us! :) M Maelreg does a great job utilizing those materials to the best of their ability. I've really become a fan of just about anything that they make, and this shirt is no exception. It's made from the very popular 88/12 Poly/spandex blend that has become ubiquitous in the fitness/active industry because of its amazing tensile characteristics- wicking, quick dry, UPF, and extra comfy against the skin. You get all of that here and a no-frills, really beautiful color to go along with a fit that is exactly true to size. I took the more form-fitting version for my 5'10" 175 lb. frame (I've found both L and M work from these guys, M for a more tailored look) and it's exactly right- enough room to move around comfortably and breathe, not so tight that it's hugging my belly. It's super lightweight and really easy to launder (I hang dry mine to prevent pilling and wrinkles), cold/low and a medium/low heat iron to rid those stubborn factory wrinkles and you shouldn't ever need to iron it again. Another great offering from the folks at Maelreg.

Just like the big brands!
Color: Light Dark Blue Grid, Size: 3X-Large
This hoodie is very good quality. I would say it compares to many of the Columbia or Northface type. The only problem that I encountered was that the sleeves are very long, but that might be a me problem because I am pretty short. The hoodie is very lightweight so it can even be worn on semi warm days and really is mostly used as a form of sunblock. I feel like the sizing is very true to size and if anything there’s a little extra room. The price is just right since it’s much less expensive than the big brands and it holds up after being washed several times. It’s very comfortable and breathes very nicely as well.

Much nicer than expected!
Color: Pink Heather, Size: Large
I kept seeing Maelreg stuff recommended to me and the reviews were great so I finally bought something. This is so nice I ordered a few more things! This looks great, fits great and the quality seems top notch. You could easily put a UA or Adidas logo on this and no one would know. The fabric is soft and stretchy and a nice mid to light weight. The only thing that wasn't as good was the zipper. It does stick and seems of lower quality, but it does work. Overall at this price point I am very impressed.
